Patrick's Story
Life
I'm proud of what I have accomplished in my life, but I'm not yet satisfied. I'm entertaining the notion that I'm approaching
my "mid-life crisis" At least I'm not going to get a divorce
because I haven't been married yet. I'm single and I'm okay with it but I can't wait until I have kids of my own. At least
I love to spoil my nieces and nephews rotten.
Remembering ninth grade: I don't think I would have predicted
this. I graduated from college. I'm fluent in German and fairly
good with Spanish.I went to Korea to teach English. My ship came in. ""My dream job to work overseas, but this ship hit an iceberg and it became a nightmare. I was living with my boss and he was making me work long hours and not paying me very well like it said in the contract. He had to find something
netpicky to criticize me about, so I ended up leaving him and
then I wrote about it for an advanced English class at North
Hennepin and I got an "A". Other people have read it and asked
me if I would publish it. Another dream, but there's a chance that it would get rejected. My sister suggested that the title
should be "I Was A White Slave." She's a writer herself. She
laughed and said that you got the last laugh. Maybe that's the story of my life. Most important, I'm at peace with the past,
especially with people who have taunted me. I 've learned that
it's better to forgive and forget. With the latter, it's better
because I'm not hurting them with being bitter. Rather I'm
hurting myself. So I learned to turn my failures into successes. With Korea, I look at it as my boss's failure. The
last three days in Korea were the most exciting in my life, and I experimented with their culinary ways : I ate squid, so I'm not so
squeamish afterall. Ha Ha Ha.
I have something new to share. Last night, Dec. 21, 2005. There was a Christmas Variety Show at my church and I sang a solo, three Christmas carols
in German, such as "Silent Night, Holy Night" "Stille Nacht, Heilige Nacht" "
"LO- Er A rose er-Blooming" "Es Ist Ein Ros Entsprungen" ...Expand for more
"Still, Still, Still"
I am so glad that I did and I don't why I was scared. I wish that I had it a long time ago!!!
It is high time that I add some stuff because LIFE has been happening.
On April 6,2008 my eldest niece was married in Florida and we shared in the occassion with her. It was simple but the rain was a challenge; that was better than a hurricane. She had planned it in September orginally. I was glad to help and to be there, remembering the time my sister was pregnant with her and I have helped with babysitting her and her sister and I have taken them to movies and to other fun things.
Two days later my dream of going to Disney World was realized. I was calm early in the morning, laying out my things that I would need and I drove for two hours from Sarasota to Orlando and when I saw the signs for Disney World, I was excited and when I entered the gate of the Magic Kingdom, the song "Let's Go Fly A Kite" from Mary Poppins was being played and I could smell cinnamon. (Later my relatives told me that there is always a Disney song that gets stuck in your head)
It was tough coming back to Minnesota. It was the snowiest March and April; looking at the window one morning, I wanted it to be a palm tree instead of a pine tree.
As of January 13,2009, I have enrolled at North Hennepin Community College and I am taking a painting course on Tuesday evenings and I want to enter the graphic design program.
School
One of the funniest memories from high school was in Mr Mittlefeldt's Senior Social class. It was from the first day, in fact,
I was so glad that I had him. I've heard from other people
that he was hiliarious. Even better, some of my friends were
there and I made new ones as well.
It was hot and the doors and windows were opened. He stood there
in the front of the class, looking at the seating chart and
making the comment that it was "God' view". Just as he said that,
the wind blew a door a little, making a small creaking sound.
He raised his eyebrows and we all laughed. That was a great class.
