Patrick's Story
I have lived all but five years of my life right here in Idaho. I alway thought that after high school I would leave and never come back, but I can't seem to find my way out of here.
I always wanted to be a police officer or a fireman when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were right. I have been in the law enforcement profession for over 25 years now.
As a youngster, my hero was John Wayne. As an adult, my hero is still John Wayne. My first childhood crush lasted three long years, until she moved away, at which time I was truly "crushed".
I blow off steam by listening to music or going to a good movie with my family. I also enjoy many outdoor activities. I am a relaxed fit blue jeans type of guy who feels a little foolish and "overdressed" in a suit and tie.
If I won $100 million, I'd invest 3/4 of it in gold, real estate, and some other high yield, tax sheltered investments, then spend the rest on my mom, my kids and my wife.
My current age is 49. When I was...Expand for more
12, I thought that people my age now would be ready to have dirt thrown in their face. I was so completely naive. I never thought that I could ever be taught something by a child, but my girls and my grandson have taught me the true meaning of unconditional love...and I am humbled by that.
My best friend would tell you I'm a quiet, thoughtful, good friend; but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as standoffish. I hope my friends remember me as someone who was true to his word, and believed that a handshake agreement was stronger than anything written on paper.
To be truly happy, I would be in a log home in the middle of a pine forest, surrounded by my family, sharing all of the wonders of this earth that God has been willing to share.
If I had one thing to do over, I'm not sure that I would change anything that helped me grow as a person. Most of life's pains come with an important lesson attached, and that is how we learn. I would proably try to be more patient and caring with my family.
