Patrick's Story
Life
Hmmm. Seems like I filled this in once upon a time, now it's blank. Makes me wonder what's happened in my life that my history went away. Que sera.
Live in Colleyville, spent time out of state and didn't like it. Have traveled quite a bit, prefer not to any more if I can help it; I think there's a likelihood that when you get to the gates of heaven there might be a black mark next to your name for every night you spent not at home with your family. :)
I met my wife in NYC in 1995/96 while presenting to her and 8 others from her company, and spent two years in a very fun long-distance courtship. She moved here in July/August of 1997 and we've been married...well, long enough to have a 5-year old little girl to add complexity to the busy lives of my already 25-year old son (grad of UT and post-grad of SMU, video game designer for Sony Online Entertainment in Austin) and 23-year old daughter (grad of Baylor and NY-based recent acquisition by MediaCom, moved to Manhattan following her 7/7/07 nuptials in Cabo San Lucas...her husband, Mike, is in commercial real estate and is working in the City as well). My wife is my best friend, my confidant, my whole world. I can't imagine a day without her, so I won't try. :)
The little one, Tiernan Belle (aka TinkerBelle), daily reminds me of how busy I was when her brother and sister were her age, and forces me to slow down and enjoy every moment with her. I spend all the time possible with Ryan, my son, and Erin, my daughter, though at their ages...Expand for more
and levels of energy I'm no longer the top priority on their dance cards.
I joined Mensa last year, but just like High School I found I'm simply not a joiner, so I'm an inactive member, no real changes there, huh? I think there's a great chance I just wanted to know if I'd make it in. A bit of validation as years pass and the mirror image becomes increasingly squidgy.
My wife and I recently sold our home in Bedford and made the HUGE 5-mile trek to Colleyville for the little one to be near her Primrose pre-schoolmates when she starts public school in September of 2008.
That pretty much clues you in. I didn't say much about work...hopefully that's not the only defining item in our lives. I do own a real estate valuation firm since 2002. Regardless I still consider myself a marketing and sales consultant, though the former takes most of my time these days, though the latter has my imagination and my best years. I've recently come to the realization that I enjoyed my work more when it involved significantly more difficult issues than I'm dealing with day-to-day now, so I think there's a change coming. Stay tuned.
And call, write or send flowers. Would love to hear from anyone and everyone that remembers a time when "Angie" by the Stones was current music and the best radio station around was 1270AM/KFJZ and Mark E Baby (later Mark Stevens of Eagle 97 and still later a Houston mainstay) was the afternoon DJ. Wow. I didn't actually feel old until I read that last line. :)
