Patrick's Story
Well, here's what I've been doing in the last few years.
I started a small landscape design business in 2000, and business is going well. I bought a home in 2003, and I started investing in Florida real estate in 2003 (my brother and I bought a 3br condo in a golf/country-club community). I go on vacation there at least twice a year.
Prior to starting my business, I worked at two lower-paying, basically dead-end jobs for about 10 years total. I also didn't have my financial priorities in order. I lived primarily in DE, but hung out with friends in DE and PA. I almost got married(does that count?) in 1996, but otherwise had periodic, short term relationships in the 90's. I used to drink and party more than I should have, so I decided to stop drinking, and 'etc'., all together in 2000. Now I am enjoyin...Expand for more
g my life much more than before. I'm still not married, and I have no kids but I still look forward to both.
I bought a new 4x4 pickup in July '05, and a new Harley Davidson Sportster in June '06.
I made it a priority to pay off debt in 2007. I paid off my motorcycle loan in July, 4 years early. I also paid all credit cards down to -0- balances.
In 2008, I plan on increasing the size of my business, and offering complete home, exterior pressure washing. This will require advertising, which I have not needed to do for several years, because all my existing customers have come to me by word of mouth. But, a new service will require advertising.
