Patrick's Story
Life
Spent 32 years in the Army as an 18D (Special Forces Medic) retired and working as an environmental consultant. I have traveled to 41 countries on 6 continents (not always invited) and have lost touch with everyone. I have 2 sons and 2 daughters (Does anyone need a kid?) I haven't lost my sense of humor though I am a little more cynical. Drop me an e-mail and I will respond.
Update to this profile. I was retired from the Army and I was returned to active duty to serve in the Sandbox and the Stan for a total of 48 months. I am now re-retired and live and work in SC. Married off one of my daughters in March 08 (was so expensive I am really trying to convince the other if she wants to get married just do a quick justice of the peace and let me send you on a real nice honeymoon) Newest update got my first grandson on 29 September 2008. My birthday present! Weighed in at 8lbs 8oz 22 inches long. On his first check up (2 week) he had gained a pound so he does have my appetite! Add 3 more grand kids. Ian born 21 May 2010 and twin girls Maykala and Taylynn born 10/10/10 at 9:34 and 9:43 almost all 10s. Newest grandbaby Walker born 27 June 2012. The next is due in October. She came a few days early but little Gabrielle was born 28 Sept 2012. Blessed with grandkids (but taking donations for Christmas....just kidding) Ok not kidding anymore....one of my sons neglected to tell me until almost the last minute he became a stepdad and was just a couple of weeks away from becoming a dad. James Kennedy Perkinson was born Oct 30th 2012. His older sister is Walela (nick name is Wally) who was born Jan 27th 2011 so now we have a total of 15 grandchildren. When I married Dotty she had 5 grandchildren and 3 more have come along from her side. We have 4 grandchildren over the age of 10 and 11. All the rest are 7 and under. Anybody out there who reads these stories got a similar mass of grandkids? Well just added another grandchild Camden to the growing list and will have another grandson in January 2017. My oldest son and his drop dead gorgeous Russian wife are expecting. Came as a shock to me as my oldest son swore he would never have children. He is 36 and she is 35. Going to change their lifestyle 180 degrees. Oh as most have notice in my pics that I had real long hair. I would grow my hair long every year and then make two cuts of 12 inches each to send to Locks of Love. Stopped doing that when I found out they weren't a charity anymore and were selling the hair to other companies that would sell the hair to the cancer patients. So back to a more familiar cut military style high and tight. Not that I didn't love my long hair just makes my mornings a lot quicker without having to braid my hair. Jump in the shower, clean up, back out in under 3 ...Expand for more
minutes. Only get helmet head hair when I have to wear a helmet such as when I am in GA. For those who don't know DOT 3 standard means "must be able to withstand a 3 mph impact" Helmets are tested by dropping them 3 feet which achieves the 3 mph speed. So please tell me again how a helmet will save my life? The CDC notes that 47% of MC fatalities are caused by the neck being snapped by the helmet strap. Most die from massive impact trauma to the upper torso not the head. So yes I ride my HD without a helmet in my state which does not require or make mandatory a useless law. Oh and all of you always said I have a hard head....Well Hillary came and visited Charleston, home to most of the Democrats in SC, flew off on her broom and set forth a curse on the Red part of the state with hurricane Matthew. During clean up I dropped about 3 feet and broke my right tibia in multiple places. So not doing as much as normal. Hope all of you are faring better. Oh breaking a leg does have a side effect if you are willing....lost 34 lbs in 21 days. Great diet......and not as seen on TV. Latest additions Camden from my daughter Stacy and now my oldest son and his Russian wife had their first child Maximus or as we know him Max the Viking (Russian parents watched the birth on Skype and toasted him, lots of vodka, as Max the Viking). He absolutely had the biggest feet I have ever seen on a newborn. He also is the only newborn I know that gained 2 lbs in a week just after birth. After my most recent surgery (4th) on my infamous Hillary fracture they had to cut and lengthen the Achilles tendon. The surgical cut is 9 inches from heel to fibula attachment but oddly doesn't hurt. Now the ankle joint hurts (actually that area has hurt since my parachute accident in 75 and they fused the ankle which is now not fused because of the fractures). The doctor that performed the surgery said I healed so fast that I can bear weight on the foot using crutches until 5 Sept then start putting full weight on it after that and start physical therapy to hopefully make my joint work and walk sort of normal again. Sigh...they did surgery procedure #5 December 20th and since that surgery they have given me 3 direct, into the space under the patella, injections of synthetic synovial fluid to add lubrication to my joint to ease pain. That is going to lead into surgery #6 which will be to remove the hardware as it is interfering with me being able to walk normally. Can't win on this injury. Anyhow Max the Viking is now walking and is quite the runner, natch can't keep up with him, really is a bummer having a 14 month old out run me LOL! I am still too hyper to be a couch potato so I either "Chester or Igor" around as best as possible, Max thinks I am just playing which kind of works for now.
