Patrick's Story
After High School I enlisted in the Air Force and traveled to many states and a few oversea areas.
Stateside I was stationed in Texas, Mississippi and South Carolina before going to Thailand. Then I was sent to Germany, two different bases, for 7 years. While there I got to visit France, Italy, Spain, Greece, England Denmark, Sweden, Austria and Switzerland. While in Germany, I met my first wife and my first son was born in 1978.
I was then reassigned to California, where #2 son was born in 1981.
Then the AF decided to make me an Officer. I was sent to the University of Utah for an engineering degree. While there #3 son was born in 1982. After the U of U, a short trip to Texas for OTS and then I was assigned to Hill AFB in Ogden Utah and remained there until 1989 when I was reassigned to Wright-Patterson AFB in Ohio...Expand for more

Then life started taking difficult turns. In 1990 I was diagnosed with Chronic Mylogenous Leukemia. After a lot of testing, my father became my bone marrow donor. In April 1991 I had my transplant and after making the doctors earn their wages, I beat Leukemia.
Life still had another twist, divorce with me maintaining custody of my boys. I was able to finish my Air Force career after beating Leukemia and ended up finding a reason to stay in Ohio. Victoria and I ended up beating another medical certainty, we had a daughter in 1992.
My family grew from 3 boys to 4 boys then we added a daughter.
This year another twist: I was diagnosed with Hodgkin Lymphoma.Completed a chemo and radiation treatment series. PET scan showed no cancer cells remained. Will have to watch closely for the next few years.
I am on Facebook.
