Patrick's Story
Life
25 years can be a long time, but I have kept quite busy and it seems to have flown by. I am sorry to have missed the reunion, but I will be at the next. Each August after baseball season, my son Adam and I spend several weeks in northwest Maine.
I married my wife Kim in 2005, and we just had a baby girl, Makenna. This is Kim's first, and my third.
I have 3 children. Lauren is now 19, Adam is 14, and Makenna was born on February 18th this year. Lauren is working towards a career in journalism, and Adam is seeing where baseball will take him. Both Lauren and Adam have done very well in school and we are very proud of them.
Adam has been recruited to play for the Indiana Pony Express travel baseball team this year, as well as a regional team the Wells County Cobras. This season he will play in nearly 100 games across the Midwest. Adam continues to excell in baseball and batted .429 last year in his first season of travel ball. While in Sheboygan last spring he hit a ball out of Wildwood park over the 393' in BP two weeks before turning 14. Adam was also captain of his middle school football team playing every down as an offensive guard, middle linebacker, and kicker. He is now 5' 11" and weighs 212#, and benches 230#. The local highschool invited him to work-out with the FB team this year and he is still just in 8th grade.
I keep busy coaching Adam's teams, raising fox, working on the farm, and doing museum work replicating precolumbian artifacts. I recently had a portrait added to the collection of the Logan museum at Beloit college.
I spent nearly nine years in the Wisconsin Army national guard and the Indiana air national guard. While stationed in Germany I...Expand for more
acted as a German translator during Reforger.
For several years I was editor of a trade paper called N.I.F.B.A. News. It dealt with the US fox ranching industry. I still raise 100-200 fox each year.
I am presently employed by General Motors Corp. as a Journeyman Tinsmith. I have just over 3 years to go until I retire to the western mountains of Maine. During my time at GM I have moved into and out of managment, and have now been a tradesman for over 14 years.
When I am not around a ball field, I am travelling around the midwest demonstrating at primative skills gatherings and showing my artwork. I quarry my own materials from several states, and do enjoy digging "good" rock!
Over the years I have picked up a few years of college credits, primarilly in the arts, and anthropology. I have also taught several classes on flintknapping through Indiana, Purdue University at Fort Wayne Indiana.
I played baseball for the Fortwayne Indians of the MSBL. for three years, playing 1st and 3rd, and mostly batting cleanup. We were not the best team but we had alot of fun. I was able to play with Bill Madlock, Rudy law, Lee Lacy, and others, and even picked up a hit against Bill Lee in an all-star game.
I am probably one of the busiest people you could ever meet. I try to live life to the fullest, and look forward to each day. I thought I would try to put something together about myself for those that are interested. I have so many fond memories of my time at Badger, and though I may only see a few of you now and then, I have always thought that good friends will always remain good friends.
Sincerely,
Willie
