Patsy's Story
Here we all are! In our 60,s. Just a few years ago we were in our teens and 20,s. Hasn,t it been fun!
Finished high school went off to Teacher,s College then to work in Grand Mere (1 yr), Pierrefonds (2 yrs), Ottawa (6 yrs). Joined the OPP for 18 months then the Canadian Forces for 25 yrs). Was an Officer Cadet at first but retired in 2003 as a Brigadier General.
After teacher,s college went to Carleton got a BA, OU for M.ED, Queen,s for MPA and to Algonquin for a Cabinetmaking Course(after retiring).
Married a great guy 22 yrs ago and am now living in West Kelowna, BC. Wonderful place. One step daughter and 3 grandkids.
Some recent news as of the end of 2009 is below:
We live in Westbank or West Kelowna as we are now called continues to be as nice as when we first moved here. Summer, spring and the fall are lovely, no so the winter. We have about 1cm of snow in our back yard which is about 1 cm too much. Today the weather is a cool -1.7
Gerry worked very hard this year on the stone walls and his flowers in the back yard. He has done a great job and next year he plans to build up the front yard. My job is to watch and offer comments only when asked. The former is very easy but the latter is hard. A good mystery and a swing solves all my problems. Gerry loves it when I read because I don't comment on his wonderful work other then to say how well he doing. Gerry continues collecting music and now has about 2500 CDs. Yes he has listened to all that music. His IPod contains 25,000 songs, he has an eclectic taste in music. All the neighbors love him and his gifts.
As for me, after leaving the military I took a cabinetmaking course. It keeps me busy...Expand for more
. Just finished a 5 piece mission style, red oak, bedroom set. Also built a red oak dining room cabinet, refinished the kitchen farm table, put new floors in both bathrooms, replaced the rugs on the stairs, master and spare bedroom with laminate, and painted the interior of the house. Gerry helped with the laminate, I measure and cut, he places it. Also took some time to put laminate in 2 rooms in Gerry's mom's home. I love cabinetmaking and other thing inside the house. Gerry is the outside man.
Neighbors gave us a 1927 Victrola. It had some water damage, the veneer was ruined, the glue wasn't holding and the machinery was not working properly. Took it apart and have been working on it for about 3 months. It will look good once it's finished but I had to do a lot of sanding, sanding, sanding. Did I mention sanding? I can write love letters to Gerry on the furniture. Oh! have we got dust! The plans for next year are to refinish the kitchen cupboards and insert smoky glass in four of them. Then back to the workshop to work on a wall/murphy bed for the spare room. That will keep me out of Gerry's hair for a little while.
Our dogs(Tiger(M) and Lily(F)) are doing great. We have found as time goes by that Tiger should have been called Lily and Lily named Tiger. These modern kids, they just can't get it togetherÿ
Went to Maui last year and plan to go to Palm Springs end of March for a while. Will be driving back East this summer to visit the grand kids and the rest of our families. Gerry and I continue golfing, bowling, playing cards and poker etc.. Other than that we maintain a quite life.
Hope everything is going well. Happy New Year!
