Patsy's Story
Happy Memorial day! Well, it has been almost a year since I updated my profile so here we go! This summer is already cranking up to be a warm one. Today is 93 degrees with heavy humidity and a forecast for a summer storm this afternoon. We survived the winter of 2009-2010 intact and loved almost every minute of it. We had a wonderful white Christmas with about 15 inches of the fluffy stuff and it was picture perfect. In January, we went for a week in Cancun, and missed the first few days of "Snowmageddon" because we couldn't get home. All the airports were closed but we did return at midnight on Sunday, to a parking lot full of cars surrounded by 25 inches of snow. Well, one of my favorite friends went to Dulles airport and dug out the car and had it ready for us to make our way home! What a gift! As I mentioned in our last chat, Cliff and I celebrated our thirtieth wedding anniversary with a Mediterranean cruise. We saw ports in 12 days and had the time of our lives. I especially loved the Vatican and the Amalfi coast in Italy but every minute of the trip was breath-taking. There are lots of photos posted on my site on FaceBook. We visited a rug shop in Izmir, Turkey where we bought our first Turkish carpet-a red, black and white 13 X 11 for our living room. Major excitement! Life...Expand for more
in Belmont Bay is still wonderful and we love living on the river, watching the fish, Herons, Eagles, Ospreys, deer, foxes, and all the other species that the water draws. It is especially poignant when I think of all the oil flooding the Gulf of Mexico, and the society of wildlife and humans who are now and who will be impacted by this, the greatest disaster to ever strike America. This is truly "An Inconvenient Truth"! All our family members are healthy and happy and we feel so blessed to share the same neighborhood with two of our daughters. Our youngest, Savannah, recently moved into Washington, DC, to be closer to her work. she was lucky to find a studio near the National Cathedral with a parking space, just a 20 min. bus ride to her work. She is loving exploring Georgetown with her friends and spotting the rich and famous who reside there. We are eagerly anticipating our class of 1965 reunion in Amarillo, TX. We hope to fly to DFW, then drive to Austin, Midland and finally to Amarillo in conjunction with the party to visit old friends and family who we haven't seen in years. Looks like it is time to get busy here so I'll close for now. Give us a call if you get to the Wash, DC metro area. We would love to welcome any of you while you are in the area. Hope to see you in September!
