Patty's Story
Life
Well...post RCE I attended three French high schools before going to Rosemere High for my last years of secondary school. Met some wonderful people and got up to a little 'no good'- norms of the time.
Later, after trying and dropping out out of OCA and Toronto, I returned to Montreal and got into Concordia Fine Arts program. After 2 years of school I stopped so I could have my daughter and marry her dad. That daughter who is now almost 25...ouch..... is still finishing up at McGill. We are proud of her- she has done it all on her own, working at several jobs to make her way through school . She is a well rounded person.
I was a single mom for a few years (great relief after marrying under duress) and went back to school to complete a med lab program. Never really practiced med tech (couldn't be so buttoned down) but have continued painting over the years.
I remarried in 1989 and now have 2 boys, 14 and 16 years old.
We lived in Albania for 2.5 years after spending almost 5 years in Riyadh - and just relocated to Kiev Ukraine about 6 weeks ago.
We plan to be here for 3 years.
I tend to teach art in international schools (much to my kids' despair-they can't get rid of me) and am still working on continuing ed. by distance learning-keeps me current.

women's center in Mtl., Fran is an emergency doc in BC. We are all still close and in touch given the distance between us.
We are beginning to miss having 'roots' and my latest activity is scanning canadian mls listings seeing what is available in montreal- probably a rebound reaction to leaving our life in Albania, a small and tight community.
The pictures on the site are of Albania- I will eventually replace them with new ones from Kiev.
UPDATE: We have been in Kiev for 2 years now. It is alot like Montreal for weather and general 'feel'. I see how Ukrainians might have felt at home arriving in Mtl. We are now down to one child (16)at home. Our middle son left in September to go to McGill. So, one to go ....and as frustrating as it is parenting a sixteen year old he will never be as bad as I was.
I began in Kiev by replacing the Art teacher 3 weeks after arrival (at an international school here). I have been teaching first grade ever since. My partner's contract ends next January so we will be looking for a change ...we expect a good job to take awhile to come our way. We are ready for warmer climes and would be more than happy to go back to the middle east for a while.....we like the weather and lifestyle.
Since writing this I have discovered facebook- so will put picks and updates there under my name:-)
