PAUL's Story
Life
UPDATE Mar-2011. Steve and I moved from Seattle in Sept-09, to Rock Springs, Wyoming where we will be for at least another few months. Big change from Seattle! Our wedding was in Seattle Aug-2010. (See "Paul's Photo Album" for a pic of Steve)
After graduation from KUHS, I attended Judson Baptist College in Portland, Oregon, then several years later Everett (WA) Community College and Seattle Pacific University, majoring in Piano Performance and Music Education.
I played piano and organ, sang in choirs and as a soloist, and taught private piano lessons. I held many organ and choral conducting jobs. I managed the print music department of a large retail music store for many years before going into accounting. The past several years I was an accountant for Lifelong AIDS Alliance/Chicken Soup Brigade in Seattle. I went on disability in Feb. 2007 due to Menieres Disease (which I've had since 1990).
I was married 1972 - 1989 to Kathie Horst Anderson, from Eugene. We have three grown, married kids (& great inlaws!), and seven grandchildren. They all live north of Seattle.
I moved to Seattle in 1991 when I was coming to terms with the fact that I am gay. I sang for a few years with the Seattle Men's Chorus (directed b...Expand for more
y Dennis Coleman, KUHS '66). They are one of Seattle's premiere choral groups and one of the largest Gay men's choruses in the world. I did volunteer work for Northwest AIDS Foundation and Multi-Faith Aids Project Seattle (MAPS). I took up the hobby of country-western and line-dancing.
My life partner from 1996-2000, Byron, passed away several years ago. He challenged me to do things I never would have done on my own, like hiking 4 hours straight up steep mountains in 6 feet or more of snow, just for the joy of soaking in some hot springs. We had 5 great years, but alcohol and drugs took him away from me.
I'm glad to report that I've been together since Oct-07 with the most awesome, loving, sweet, fun man ever, and he loves me. I am so lucky! Steven grew up in Kansas, and is a United Church of Christ pastor. He's incredibly patient, kind, and thoughtful, and lots of fun!. He has 13 grandkids, so that's 20 between us!
I spend most of my time now with reading, playing and composing music, walks, and enjoying time with Steven and our myriads of friends and family. I especially enjoy evenings with friends on the patio or around the fireplace. Life is good.
