Paul's Story
School
Attended the Winchendon School during my junior and senior years. Found the boarding school experience rewarding with great academic support and new athletic opportunities. Playing on the golf teams with such a great golf course for a boarding school proved great fun during the spring. Also played on football and soccer teams. Swam for the JV Swimming Team as a junior and then served as the Varsity Swimming Team's manager when a senior.
Dormitory life proved a great way to meet more people. Had a great first year roommate in Frank Andrews. As seniors we had our own rooms, but lived in the Cottage. Others included Drew DeGanahal, Rob Merriman, David Breenan, Kit Reid, Art Sterner, and Al DiMartino.
First year proved a unique experience coming from Houston. However, it made way for a great senior year as I ranked sixth in the class.
College
Started at Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina during late August 1971. Participated as a disc jockey on the local campus radio and worked part-time as an orderly at a nearby nursing home. During my sophomore year, I traveled with a group to Europe for the Interim Study Period held every January. Countries included Great Britain, France, Belgium, and the Netherlands.
Having been away from Texas for four years, I transferred to the University of Texas in June 1973 and then graduated in May 1976 with a BA in Government. A course called "The Politics of National Security" proved the most interesting one. The Professor was finally able to have the class eligible for a paid trip from Bergstrom Air Force Base in Austin to Strategic Air Command's Headquarters near Omaha, Nebraska.

any groups. I joined Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity and still keep up with several friends. The overall social experience proved outstanding. My parents knew I had a good time through conversations with parents of my contemporaries.
Workplace
Worked for P. G. Bell Co. starting in October 1976 after touring Europe for four months. Started as a trainee on a school expansion in Deer Park, a Houston suburb for a year. Spent a year in the office on project management and estimating.
Decided to try out real estate management with the Horne Company in October 1978. It proved a great real estate experience, but returned to P. G. Bell Co. in April 1980 for a better opportunity.
My father and staff needed me to start a marketing program and help administer the insurance needs with the company's growth. With Houston growing I helped bring in new business while learning much about the insurance business. Hurricane Alicia during August 1983 proved a great claims learning experience. Unfortunately, the economic downturn resulted in closing down our company during 1987.
The Howard Hughes Corporation hired me in 1987 for a real estate development position that successfully lasted for three years. I was involved in construction administration in the Hughes office center and initially with the Summerlin master-planned community's construction program.
When finishing with Hughes during mid-1990, I went into the commercial real estate business. Unfortunately, it like Hughes had great difficulty in procuring financing. Therefore, my wife, Wende, who was the top residential agent in her office pointed out a new desk in her office for me. Believing in women's liberation for the right reasons I moved over to her agency. Since then we have worked as a husband and wife team.
