Paul's Story
Life
After leaving West Point, I spent a year at UND, then finished with a Bachelor of Music degree from Moorhead State University in 1990. Immediately upon graduation, I shared a U-Haul with 5 friends, packed up and moved to Nashville, Tennessee to get into the record business. I ended up in the Christian record business for Sparrow Records in 1991.
In 1995, I was "downsized" at Sparrow, and moved to a job in Mobile, Alabama. Eventually started an innovative new record label concept, which is still running, but couldn't support us. In 2003, we moved to Las Vegas. I'm currently working as a production tech for a casino group, and I produce independent CDs on the side. C.J. is an RN by day, songwriter and singer by night.
We have no kids, only cats.
College
I can't imagine a more enjoyable major to pursue! Studying music in college was a lot of fun. I fondly remember group cram sessions before midterms, late-night studying at Sher's Kitchen, and more crazy stories. Of course, music majo...Expand for more
rs throw the best parties! The Jungle Juce marketing parties were probably the best, but that also included seeing our friends playing at local clubs. Guitar recitals were pretty huge, too, becoming a 5-night Meltdown held in the 1,000-seat main auditorium.
Of course, my favorite accomplishment was the creation of the Dragon Tracks music projects. The first one released in 1990, just before my graduation, and they've been going ever since. I guess I've been in the record business ever since.
Workplace
Spent the first thirteen years after college in Christian music working at record labels, then trying to start my own. The internet and the MP3 phenomenon along with other uncertainties made it nearly impossible for an indie to thrive, so the whole thing is in temporary hibernation. Now I live in Las Vegas to be nearer my wife's family and to work live sound for casino shows for mostly washed-up acts. I also record and produce CDs for independent artists - maybe I'll get back into it full-time soon.
