Paul's Story
Life
After graduating from high school I joined the navy ,while in the navy I married my girlfriend from Tewksbury and we jave been happily married for 48+ years. We have 3 children 2 boys ( who have a birthday every 4 years) and a daughter,we have 4 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
I retired in 1993 after working in chemical companies for 31 years. I used to enjoy playing in the softball leaque in Wilmington until i was faorced to quit because of health.now i enjoy bowling and golf if i ever get back to it.
I now enjoy spending a lot of time on my cumputer and this year I am very busy on it as I am running ny naval ships reunion, now I know what our class reunion committee went through, ...Expand for more
this is the 13th reunion for this ship and we get a lot of stories about WW2.
Military
I joined the navy on April 19,1955 had myboot camp training at Bainbridge,Maryland, had 9 weeks of training and schooling, graduadte came home for 15 days of leave, In fact the day that i came Pat Welling was on the same train.
After that went to Key West Fl. to report to my ship and had to chase it feom Key West to Gitmo to Rhode Island and back to Key West where i cought up with her.the next day I was assigned to the electrical group and was qn electrician for 4 years. Now my wife Joanne and I attend the ships reunion's every year. I found out that this ship was the only ship to sink a jap submarine in ww2.
