Paul's Story
Life
After Graduation I spent a year at Greater New Haven State Technical College hanging out with Rick and some new friends. Did a lot of skiing; Powder Ridge, killington, etc...
Decided that I wanted to travel rather than go to school. After 18 years in NB I wanted to get away; so I joined the Navy. Fortunately I had learned enough to get into the Navy's Nuclear Power Program. I attended boot camp in Chicago and then Electronics Technician school. Then I was sent to Orlando, Florida for a year of schooling in Reactor Theory and operation. After that it was back to, of all places Windsor, Connecticut to actually train on a Nuclear Power plant.
Following completion of about 3 years of training I was assigned to a Fast Attack Submarine, the USS Batfish SSN-681. I served on the Batfish for 3 years and spent some time in the Caribbean, Poerto Rico, St Croix. I also visited the Azores while temporarily assigned to a balistic missle sub.
After I was discharged I worked at a commercial nuclear plant in Michigan for a year, but didn't like the civilia...Expand for more
n nuc vs the Navy nuc way, so I decided to head back to the sunshine in florida.
I worked at Orlando International Airport in the electronics Dept for about 7 years. We always joked in the Navy about getting out and selling Hotdogs on the beach in Daytona or being a lifeguard. So I worked as a lifeguard at Disney world for 3 years while I was at the airport. I met some people from North Branford while I was working there. Ellen Jaquery's husband saw my NB name tag. They came back with Keene Regan and Karilyn Fee a year later.
My wife and I divorced 4 years ago, and moved to Reno, Nevada to be near her parents. We settled our differences and I moved here in 2001. We have 5 beautiful children together and are expecting our 6th in December.
I now work at a Wastewater Treatment Plant near Lake Tahoe as an Instrument Technician. There are about a dozen ski resorts here, including Squaw Valley where they held the 1960 winter olympics.
I have been blessed by God beyond what I ever expected to accomplish in my life and I'm not done yet.
