In Washington, DC I received my MPA from American University in public administration, with a public financial management specialization. Two years later, I returned to American University to enroll in unique political science courses (including political campaign management & campaign finance), which can only be offered in the nation's capital. While in Washington, I worked for the National Science Foundation (Research Assistant), the Social Security Administration's Office of Hearings & Appeals (Budget Clerk), the National Institute of Education (Education Research Assistant), the Administrative Office of the US Courts (Retirement Clerk), the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corp. (Financial Assistant), The National Consumer Cooperative Bank (Budget Analyst), the US Army Military District of Washington (Budget Analyst), and the Federal Emergency Management Agency (Procurement Analyst). I was an active member of the American Political Science Association, the American Society for Public Administration, and the American Association of Political Consultants. The Washington years frequently provided opportunities to attend Congressional committee hearings and conferences sponsored by various lobbyists. In Illinois I was employed at: US Army ARRCOM (Contract Specialist); Northwestern University (Sr. Sponsored Project Specialist); City of Chicago (Budget Analyst); and the Illinois Department of Financial Institutions (Financial Institutions Examiner). In Nevada, I enrolled in several continuing education courses in Microsoft Office Suites. Courses included: Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel (1 & 2), PowerPoint, and Microsoft Word (1 & 2). I reside in a 55+ community, located about 15 miles north of the Las Vegas Strip.
