Paul's Story
Classmates,
YES!, Susie Purvis and I are still married, 37 years (May 25, 1974) and live in the Hilton area of Newport News just off Main Street. We have 2 children, Linda Shelley, 31, a healthcare provider intake worker living in Honalulu, and Paul IV, 30, an architectural engineer living in Chesapeake. We also have a dog, Maggie, 9 years old, an English Cocker Spaniel.
I attended Newport News Shipbuilding Apprentice School for Machinist / Machine Designer and graduated in January, 1977. Susie attended Longwood College with an English/Drama double major and graduated in 3 years with her BS. She now has her Masters in Education from ODU and teaches English at Kings Fork HS for Suffolk City Schools. She also coaches the Forensics and Debate teams.

ugh the years I've machined parts to build ships, submarines, wind tunnel test models, jet engines, space shuttle parts, space experiments, book binding equipment, clutches, transmissions, automatic oilers and have owner/operated a machine shop. I now work at Measurement Specialties Inc. (NASDAQ MEAS) in Hampton, VA.
as a Sr. Machinist. MEAS manufacturies high tech sensors.
Susie and I bought 6 acres halfway between Appomattox and Farmville VA and are building a 26' x 32' garage apartment as a get away place, doing some of the work ourselves. Hopefully we will retire in this small area off Route 460 called Elam, build a house, and live out our remaining years together.
We wish you well in your endeavors and hope to hear from all of you.
