Paul's Story
Life
Married to Terri Alexander, Madison High School, Class of 64, since August 31,1968. Graduated SDSU 1969. Both Real Estate brokers with Prudential CA Realty in North San Diego County. Check out our web page with Restaurant Picks, Community and Fun Links. My life is guided by this vision: My life I choose is a partnership, combining truth, love, passion and thanksgiving with a plan. I treasure my marriage, cherish my wife, and support her life choices. My referral driven business integrates leisure and community activities. I have challenges, rewards, abundance, security, balance, alignment, time and good health... most of all I have fun.
School
Fondest memories of School are at Thornton.. before they made us move to Woodrow Wilson junion high. My Mom.. Aunts and Uncles had gone to school there.. it was like family. Mom made me take dance lessons.. (thank God).. Mom made me learn music.. (thank God)... but moved to California just as the hormones kicked in.. Bummer :-) Went back after High School graduation.. California plates on a new Chevy Impala Supersport :-)... just wasn't the same. Have made contact with some classmates through this site.. love that part.
College
The only thing my Mom and I ever fought over was fast cars.. and grades. The girls weren't to fast in those days.. but the cars were.. and I never applied myself until the third year of Junior College.. and then met Terri.. my wife of 37 years.. and had to make up my grade point and transfer to San Diego State. Made it up.. and graduated with honors from San Diego State in June 1969. Of course I missed my commencement exercise because I graduated in January.. and got drafted before commencement. I was in Basic Training .. cut off from the world. Before I got my head straight.. I flunked "History of Art" at Mesa Junion College.. thought of that often during my six years...Expand for more
on the Board of Directors of the Carlsbad Arts Associates.. hope that made up for it :-) And at Mesa Junior College I was really a goof off.. have thought of that ofter during the past six years when I am teaching Real Estate Principles at Mt. San Jacinto Community College. Grew up in a simpler world... have always had fun.. and still am. :-)
Workplace
Have always been a workaholic. Worked well for corporate America.. and worked well for me too. 17 years with Sears.. real estae in Wyoming.. then President of Rice Hydro Equipment Mfg.. had a ton of fun.. traveled all over the world.. grew the company.. very profitably.. got fired by my Brother in law for reward. Everything they say about doing business with family is true. It was a Godsend though.. we went back into real estate with Prudential CA Realty in North San Diego County. Weather paradise.. and we just received their "Legend Award" for being in the top 2% of agents .. world wide.. for ten consequitive years. Made possible everything we have.. Still crazy.. still working.. still having fun.
Military
Got drafted.. every where I went.. I said.. "I can type.. I can type.. I can type"... Mom made me learn to type thank God.. and got temporary assignement to stay at Ft. Sill Ok, after advanced training. Of the 200 plus guys I was with in Ft. Ord (for basic) and the 200 or so at Ft. Sill... I'm the only one I know that stayed out of Viet Nam. Got involved in "Soldier of the Month.. up to Soldier of the Quarter for 5th Army".. made E-5 with nine months in service.. and some emenies in personnel. Got orders to Korea with 11 months left in service.. became NCO in charge of 8th Army Assignment Team.. and had the time of my life. Love Korea.. still eat Kimchi.. made lifetime friends. Used my GI bill to buy my first home.. and valued the experience of the military.. and truly proud of it.
