Paul's Story
Life
I work 24-7, so I don't have much of a life. I watch movies, sports (hockey) and the occasional reality show (choppers, Hot Rods, Apprentice).
I watch (listen to) a lot of News like CNN, CBC, Global, while I'm working. Mostly for the Politics and World events. I think its important to follow current events, because you never know when it will come in handy.
I spend a lot time doing computer work for my family. And when I do have some time for my self, I work on 3D Animation & Graphics.
I also like to play computer games that are intelligent and have good gameplay, like Risk II, strategy games and adventure (puzzles) games, and especially (online) sports games. I don't like the action games (doom, etc.) but I like the occasional one, if there's a storyline or plot.
Currently I am the Official photographer/website for my Dad's Re-Election Campaign. On April 01, the Premier and 3 Island MLA's, Ida Chong, Murray Coel, and Jeff Brae were here, along with the Mayors of Courtenay and Comox and councillors, to open the campaign Office. It was hectic, because there were several hundred people and it was difficult to move around.
It will be an exciting campaign, I just hope I will be able to translate the...Expand for more
experience into $$$.
Workplace
I fix computers as an Electronics/Computer Technician. I own Guru Computer Services, a company I started in Jan 04. I also co-founded APT Computing, a Website design company. I left APT to continue my focus on GCS.
Previously I worked as a labourer for Tayco Paving, and did landscaping for my neighbours. I decided that I wanted to have more control over my career, so I went back to school.
In 1998 I signed up for Math and English upgrade courses at North Island College. In 2001, I entered the Electronics Technican program. I graduated NIC with a B+ average, and six days later I wrote the CompTIA A+ Computer Repair test.
A few months later, I earned a Two-week contract with Salus Systems Inc., in Victoria, helping to move computers and install Network cables. At the end of the two weeks, my contract was extended a further four weeks to work out any problems. I had a great time, learned a lot, and improved my confidence.
Now, I am currently working with a few clients, and volunteering in the upcoming Provincial Election. My father is running again to be the next MLA, and I am helping out by taking Photos of events, and maintaining his website - stanhagen.com
