Paul's Story
Life
It is kind of interesting seeing some old familiar names on this site. I haven't been back to Metairie in over 30 years. High school wasn't the greatest experience life had to offer. Really now, who among us enjoyed schools segregated by sex? Well this past year I planned to go back to my old haunts and stomping grounds. Katrina beat me to the trip but I still came down in November. I was floored by the devastation that was and is still there. The homes and businesses laid waste were almost too much to fathom. My old neighborhood faired well but so much was lost. I took over 250 photos and showed them to my family, we were there from 1964-73. Betsy didn't cause this much havoc along the whole coastal area. I hope the city and eveyone endures the hardships ahead.
Now where am I at this time you may wonder or even may not care. I live in Columbia, Missouri and work in a cardiac cath lab. Medicine is one true way to help people in need and I enjoy cardiology for its new technology and dynamic environment. I have been working in medicine of and on for over 12 years. This is added to about 4 other major career changes in my life. Makes me a jack of many trades I guess because some of them are considered trades. Prior to cardiology I brewed beer for 8 years, yes brewed beer. I was there on the brewpub bandwagon and made some darn tasty beers. Before Missouri I lived in my native country Texas. New Orleans is always where I say I grew up but Texas is where I am from.

ently I plan to stay at what I am doing as long as I can. I recently bought a little house for me and my cat and we are quite content. I stay active by running and biking, hiking, mountaineering and whatever else I can do outdoors. I keep my grey matter stimulated with music, reading, cardiology, building computers, working with Linux OS and trying to find ways to make my home self powered and sustainable. Life gives me opportunities to travel and do some mountaineering in Washington as well as camp wherever my backpack may land. I've made it to 51 years of age, something back in highschool I never thought would happen. But highschool is history and was a part of my life. Maybe that is why I'm on this site. To prove I'm a poor speller and maybe run across an old schoolmate. My sister was in Grace King, I think the first class to graduate.
The photos included in this bio are from various stages in my life. We all go through them. Right now I'm salt and pepper grey, short hair and trimmed beard, active and healthy. My genes are against me cardiac wise so I'm veggitarian and I work out to keep heart disease at bay. If you know me or think you know me drop me a note. I was one of those guys that just went through school and didn't make much of an impression on anyone. So say hello and Ill get back to you. I go by ultarunnerpaul on the popular search site and mail. Hope eveyone I ever knew is doing well out there.
