Paul's Story

Life I hate writing these things! Hm, Where to start? Lets see. I left Kearney in 1982 to join the Navy. Served for six years on two ships stationed in Long Beach Ca. Stayed in California for a total of Ten years. was married for six of those years and have 2 beautiful kids from that relationship. Eric Scott Lucas, 22 and Alyssia Dawn Lucas, 20. I moved Back to Kearrney in 1992 after a bad divorce. Went through alot of jobs and alot of drugs in eight years. one good thing that came out of that time piriod was another Son. Tristan James Lucas now 11. I turned myself into the Veterns Hospital in Grand Island for drug and alcohol Treatment on aug. 10th 2000, and have been clean and serene for over 8 years now August 10th will be my 9th year anniversary. If you want to know who I was in high school ... I was that Guy in the black step side 4x4 Chevy. A real arrogant ass that had frizzed out hair down to the middle of his back. My family owned Lucas Plumbing which is no more. Now I live in Leavenworth, Kansas. The Grand Island VA sent me down here for futher treatment that they (G.I.V.A) felt I would benefit from. And I have done so and am very grateful. In my free time I build and repair computers for the people in my Narcotics Anonymous group. And I still have hair to the middle of my back. But I've learned alot of hard lessons in life. I'm Not so arrogant anymore! I've Changed A lot over these past 9 year's, Particularly the last three. The mother of my son Tristan, Janelle Anson, Most of you should know her from KHS, was killed when her car was T-Boned by a Union Pacific Coal train doing over 55 MPH. It was a great loss for our son and his step sister Ashley and I did not realize how muc...Expand for more
h it had effected me for almost a year. It is true what is said that you do not miss what you had until it is gone even though we were not together, we were still close and talked almost daily. Then on March 9th 2008 my Mother died after being on life support. At a time when she was awake and lucid, She said she was ready and signed a DNR and then lapsed back into coma and was taken off of life support and died peacefully. I miss her, However I know she is in a better place now and out of pain. AS for me I am still working in my small custom computer business am still on SSDI for a multitude of serious chronic illness's but am making the best out of life! I beat stomach cancer last year, luckily we caught it in it's early stages and were able to remove 3 tumors with non invasive surgery using lasers to remove the tumors and the tissue surrounding the effected area. so I only had to have small dosages of radiation therapy and am in remission. I have picked up Photography as a new hobby (I'm just starting out with my new Nikon Camera) So be patient with me and I will have new pictures on her soon. I'm still learning all of the in and outs of the camera but it won't take too long. I am going on Photo safari's around town and out in the countryside and yes along the "Platte River! LOL) it ends here spilling into the Missouri river. It isn't no where close as beautiful as our Platte river in Nebraska! More like a large stream but it brings back a lot of good memory's. The Missouri River has nothing on the Platte! It is just a big muddy ragging cesspool. Well I think I've ranted on long enough! If you have any personal questions do not hesitate to send an email.
