Life - the continuing story..........
(Did you get here from Oyster River NH high school site? That's because I married Mary Ann Moran (Oyster River '73...check-out some of her photos we have included on this profile)
What a great time I've had reading thru the profiles and bios of those who have THS in common with me. I have also "found" and reconnected with a dear friend who attended Villa Victoria Academy (hmmm, what a babe she was...and still is!)
My life during those sometimes tumultuos (thanks Doc Hogan!)
years was centered on music and girls.
The music never got me into trouble..girls?..now that's a different story. I married young at 19 to a girl I was dating thru high school...Patricia Sanna..she was Bob Cairo's (Anastasio) cousin. He had the teenage band I played with and she lived with his family on Walnut Ave. We have 2 sons and a daughter before we divorced in 1971. I met Sharon Tyler (THS '64) in 1969 and we married in 1973..we have 3 sons and we moved to NH in 1979. Sharon "wasn't happy" and left me in 1992 and we divorced in 1994. Now comes Mary Ann a NH native (Oyster River HS '73)...we met on May 30. 1998 and married on Nov 28, 1998....her first, my third and last!!Well here I am at 64 years of age and music is still my passion....and as far as girls? Well my wife Mary Ann has a lot to say about that. Mary Ann is a registered nurse and she is a wonderful, beautiful, loving person...and I thank God every day for bringing her into my life.
I have a Doo Wop group that I sing lead with and play sax....the same horn I bought at Chopin Music on Olden Ave in 1959....and I love "The Music"...that real music that we all listened to and knew was written just for us. It's filling your mind, isn't it? Each time I am performing and we do a medley of "backseat music" I tell the story of standing outside Kewpie's or Hamilton's Pizza in the "Burg...on a Trenton Summer night...with "all the guys"....and listening to the music coming from the jukebox inside...We Belong Together(Your Mine)...Diamonds & Pearls....In the Still of the Night....Over the Mountain...Earth Angel.....can you hear it? It was our music then...and will be our music forever!!

One of my music industry friends Kenny Vance (who was an original member of Jay & the Americans and who founded and produced early Steely Dan) has continued touring and performing with his group Kenny Vance & the Planotones (google him and check-out his web site - he is GREAT!!) Kenny did a movie called Looking For An Echo and recorded the title song of the same name - the words of this song are soooo descriptive of my teenage years playing and singing "our music". sound....a place be in harmony..a place we almost found"..."and the girls would gather around us and our heads would really swell...we'd sing songs by the Moonglows, the Harptones and the Dells....now we've turned into oldies but we were newies then and today when I play my old 45's I remember when....We were Looking for an Echo an answer to our sound...a place to be in harmony...a place we almost found"!! As much as I could not live without my wife and family...I cannot live without "The Music" in my life. This was shaped in my early teenage years, the mid to late 50's, and my love of the saxophone began when I first heard Honky Tonk Pt 2 by Bill Doggett...it was Trenton's own George Luther Bannister's theme song on his radio show "GBS Time". That did it...I was hooked on the sax and "The Music"....(to be continued).......

Found a great blog for people who remember The 'Burg in Trenton, NJ..it is (oops, can't include the web site here..not allowed!!) but search for MacksTruckofWisdon and you'll probably find it..or add the .com on the end and presto...there it is.
Pictures and conversations of days gone by...my THS classmates should find it nostalgic to look back and remember. Places like Hamilton Sweet Shoppe, the Casino, RKO Broad, Hamilton Tomatoe Pie, Kewpies and on and on. .....(to be continued)....

Getting a little cold up here in New England..trees are just about done showing color and leaves starting to fall (damn it!!) Hard to believe that just 2 weeks ago we were basking in the Sun of Surf City, NJ on our annual vacation. Looked at some houses in Waretown and are seriously planning to get back "down the shore"! But major changes are keeping us here in NH right now...we just brought Mary Ann's 93 yr old mother home from a nursing home she has been in for 8 years...her trust money has run out and we have a small apartment that we added on our house when Mary Ann and I married in 1998...for her mother to use, which she did from 1999 to 2001...so Mary Ann wanted to bring her back to spend whatever time she has left "at home"...I agree..I lost my mom to Alzmr's 3 years ago..it was terrible..she spent her last days in Hamilton Continuing Care in Hamilton, NJ....so having Mary Ann's mom home with her is comforting for her and me..pray for us!
On another note....I bought a used drum set last weekend and have been having fun "banging out sounds"!!! We now have a "music room" that consists of my saxes - tenor and alto; a Hammond A100 organ; an upright piano; and now the drums. I'm looking for an electric guitar and amp....so when I get together with some of my music friends..they can just show up and not have to bring their instruments with them...helps with spontaneous jams, too! I still LOVE my music...would be lost without it.....(to be continued)....paulie
