Paul's Story

Friends and Chums, (Updated 1 Dec 2010) I left Harrow in August 1973 for an adventure in the military and to get a degree or 2 or 3. I graduated from RMC(Royal Military College) B.Sc. in Hon Maths & Physics; becamed trained as an EME(Elect & Mech Engr) Officer involved in Army maintenance equipment acquisition and support. First tour was in Petawawa 78 to 80 with the 2nd Brigade Service Battalion Maintenance Company. During that time I married Sue Ann Miner and we started our family , Richard was born in early 1980 and while living in Montreal, Jacinthe was born Sept 81(advantageous to her for graduate studies). In 1982-84 I went back to school at RMC for an M.Sc. in Physics and Electro-Optics (this would be advantageous to us and my belief in Anti-Aging due to a Raman Physics course. Kingston was lovely as we could see Fort Henry from the base and I completed my last Marathon (4th) while studing. Then it was off to Ottawa from 1984-90 living in 2 different homes we owned, and I travelled to the US and EU on biz. Our ticket out of Ottawa for 7 years (we rented out our home) was living in Happy Valley - Goose Bay, Labrador for 4 years where I led Scouts and Sue Ann led Guides and the OR at the local hospital. With our 13 and 14.5 yr old children we escaped to central and Northern Germany for 3 years on an exchange tour w the British Amy on the Rhine. The children completed 2 years in the British school system in Germany and the 3rd was at Ashbury College (bording school) in Ottawa. Wow did we travel is an understatement, all over Europe, Hong Kong, Eqypt and Cyprus. In 1997 we bought a larger home in Ottawa, where we still reside. I worked in EW 10 years (completed a Masters in PM in Jan 2001) and ... NEW ... in 2007 was transferred back to the engineering support(ES)group working in Soldier Systems, and recently RETIRED 31 Oct 2010. BUT prior to retirement I went off to Edmonton in Feb 2008 on pre-deployment workup and went off to Afghanistan (Sept 09 to May 10) leading a 10 person team managing and signing contracts. It was an awesome opportunit...Expand for more
y to do one Operational Tour (even at 55) no life like it ! On my special leave in Jan-Feb 2010, I met up with Sue Ann in E. Europe to check off Turkey, Greece and Israel. Our Children: Richard(30 in Feb 2010) returned in March 2010 after teaching english in China and Russia from 2003 to 2010 (learned Mandarin & Russian). He also published 2 books. He wrote a very frank letter each month on the culture and things he experienced. He is home for 2 yrs to complete an Hon Applied Linguistics degree and who knows where he off to next in 2012 (Asia?) Jacinthe(29 in Sept 2010) worked in the Art Gallery several years completed her B.A. in Art History at Carleton and in 2008 received her M. A. through Concordia in (thesis - contemporary aboriginal art). She travels, took a term in UK and FR, visited brother in China and Moscow and added Poland to the trip. She lives and works full-time at Canada Council for the Arts in Ottawa. Sue Ann is doing wonderful and keeps busy with Creative Memories (photo-album scrapbooking), student lodging, Quilters Guild, cloth Doll Making, and Bazaars/Markets showing her wares. Travel: my work fortunately took us both to Portugal in late March 2008 , a good opportunity to see Fatima and the Convento de Christo (Knights Templar). And more recently our winter 2010 reunion (break from Afghanistan) in Istanbul fol by cruise on E. Mediterranean and the Holy Land. Surprise - I forgot to mention that I rejoined the Reserves-military, next day 1 Nov 2010, to work on an equipment project as PM, this I can do in uniform until I hit CRA 60. I hope 2011 finds you all in good health and that we can connect soon. P.S. I am still enjoying new leaps in technology towards science -based Anti-Aging, first ever organic (extracts...ginseng, pomegranate, cordyceps) released Sep 2010, watch <vitalitymouse.com> resets your 52 youth gene clusters. Do be well as the science is now here to truly revitalize our youthfullness along the way as we gracefully age. Have a wonderful and happy 2011. Cheers, Paul & Sue Ann 941 Raftsman Lane, Ottawa.
