Carolyn's Story

Carolyn Mauss Douglas County High School married to Rex Camp GMA, children are Alan Camp OMA and Paula & Ryan Camp Georgian School. We all share this classmates.com. I hope the people who view this site will remember Carolyn Mauss as a friendly girl who loved being in high school and being around other people. I was in a few clubs and was a member of the high school drill team. I loved football then and still do, expecially Auburn University football. I never really had a specific idea of what my life would be when I graduated from high school. I married Rex Camp from Villa Rica shortly after I graduated and have been in Villa Rica ever since. I love meeting people, so I guess it was destined for me to work in customer service. Rex's family owned a manfacturing plant when we meet and a few years after I went to work there and have basically been working with people ever since. Although know I sell insurance in my own agency. My favorite way to really relax is camping. We have been camping ever since our children were little. We started out in a travel trailer and over the years have moved up to a motor home. I love the mountains and Rex loves the beach, so we try to do a little of both. When the kids were still at home we did alot of traveling over the US in the motor home. I wasn't really a very wild person in high school. My two best friends Amanda Compton and Diane Bell did do some sneaking out at night but that was about the wildest. I guess my hero is my mom. I know that sounds corney but we lost my da...Expand for more
d about a year after I graduated and then my brouther, some of you might have known him Mike Mauss, died in 1978. She has had numerous operations on her hips and legs and is pretty much home bound, but her spirits have nevered died. She is one of the strongest Christians I know. I have lived in Villa Rica, except for a few months that my husband was stationed in Arizona, ever since we married. I have watched it grow from a nothing little town into a nice city. Like everwhere else the outskirts are growing. I am the chairman of the tourism committee for Villa Rica, and we are working hard to promote this small city, with it unique resturants, antique shops and its Gold mine museum. You may or maynot know that Villa Rica was the first place in Georgia that gold was discovered. We have a museum now that has a video on the gold mining and lots of paths to walk and discover some of the areas that actually did the mining. You can also plan for gold. We have a annual Gold Rush Festival in Sept which is a craft show. I can't name one person from my past who I'd most like to see again, that is why I have enjoyed the reunions we have had in the past. I enjoy reading, traveling and college football. For years I had season tickets to Auburn but now I stay busy taking care of my mom and my gradnson Jace. Although he is getting big enough(3 years old) to take to the games. I guess everyone is bored to tears by now. I do look forward from hearing from any of you. Please leave a note when you visit. Hope to hear from ya'll.
