Paula (jeannie)'s Story

Life In high school I was a very quiet person and pretty shy. I loved the social part of high school, and had a hard time sitting still for the length of time we had in class. I loved my French class and had a great time in it. . I loved the dances during lunch hour and the food in our cafetaria. For me it consisted of salads and Mrs. Gardners Ozark dessert. I was very, very thin and looked like I shouldn't be in high school.I was probably noticed mostly for my dimples. I am looking to be in contact with Charyl Sparks, Sharon Hammerly, Peggy Truman, Diane Olson "64" I have only been able to return for one reunion at that was my 30th. I met Stan Balaban there and we became friends. I had planned to go to the 40th but wasn't able to, due to work. After graduation I married in August of that year and moved to Illinois. My husband was from Illinois and had been going to a trade school in Omaha. After we had been married a few years I had my first child in 65 and second in 68. Of course they are both married and between them I have 4 grandchildren. He and I divorced in 1980 and I have never remarried. I have taken college courses over the years and still have not received a degree. At one time this was very important to me to get a degree, now as I have grown older I cherish my relationships more than the degree. After my divorce I worked at a bank for 11 yrs, then 11 yrs. at a law office. I am now working at a building and supply company as a credit manager which I love. After almost 8 years at this job they eliminated this position since we had been bought out in January. I was our of work for 3 months, hired at a job I hated, fired and was so glad, I wa...Expand for more
s out of work for one more month then hired by the Peoria School District and have been there since Sept. of 07. I have had to learn quickly how to do Excel and love it. It makes me feel great that even at this age of 62 I am still learning. I also am thinking about taken more college classes. I hope to work until I am 66 and then I will retire and work part time. Hopefully. As far as I know my health is okay with minor problems. I have four grandchildren, Megan 18, Kevin & Kristyn 15 and Jack 8,I am very close to my children and grandchildren. Family is a high priority for me. I have never remarried though I was engaged to marry we had been together 7 years. I do date but am not interested in a lifetime commitment. My friends tell me I am a free spirit who is very independent. I am in a service sorority, am involved with the community. I exercise and do yoga as a way of life to stay healthy. Life is such an adventure. I like my attitude now more than in high school. I also belong to Cursillo, I have been on 4 teams and have written and given talks. Hard to believe that I stand in front of people and talk. I hated speech class and here I am. You never know what God has in store for you. School I did like a boy who was a year older than me. Frank Truman. I wonder where he is now? The teacher that inspired me the most was Mrs. Ross she was my English teacher. I loved high school. No matter how painful it was for me I loved going to school. The hardest part for me was sitting in class. I still have a hard time sitting for long periods of time. I was only able to make it to the 30th reunion. I wish we had our reunions at 5 year intervals instead of ten.
