Life
Hi,
I'm not living the life of riley as I have not won the lottery yet, but I am happy doing what I'm doing and where it is I am.
I'm in Cincinnati, in my fifteenth year with the National Park Service. I'm working at my fifth park and most likely my last - William Howard Taft National Historic Site.
Why is it my last you ask? As a Park Ranger I have 388 sites to choose to work in but now that I'm only four hours from home I think I'll stay. I like Cincinnati, my coworkers are nice, and I bought a house last year...with my partner Abaya.
We have a great place that has enough bedrooms for us to each have an office/studio (she's an artist), a guest room, and the master bedroom. I'm keeping busy on the outside with a garden and a small lawn and having a blast.
I worked in Florida for almost four years and finally realized how much I missed Ohio and the change of seasons. It does get old sitting on your front porch in January wearing shorts and a t-shirt while your friends and family are shivering under piles of blankets on the...Expand for more

I'm not as active as I once was as the running had to come to an end. My hips were going out and causing great pain. I walk and bike as much as possible.
Abaya and I camp when we can get away from our jobs and our two cats. Tsena and Grey are not into the sleeping in a tent thing! We'd like to travel someday to places other than where our families live but that will have to wait until we retire. She's from the Baltimore, Maryland area.
If I have to I'll go to Germany without her. I've been planning a trip for YEARS! Something keeps getting in the way but I'm determined in the next four years to get across the ocean.
A lot of my travel has centered around Major League Baseball Stadiums (14 so far) or National Parks (around 60) and I try to go to a new stadium every year. It won't take me long to see a baseball game in every stadium but seeing all the National Parks will take longer.
That's what retirement is for right? Only fifteen more years for me!
