THEY'RE RIDING LATER THIS YEAR TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THE FULL MOON FOR THE NITE-TIME RIDERS (THEY RIDE 24/7 TO GET IT COMPLETED IN THE ORIGINAL 1860 TIME-FRAME, 10 DAYS). THIS YEAR THEY CONVERTED FROM THE OLD PRIVATE WEB SITE, TO A GOVERNMENT ONE MANAGED BY NATIONAL PARK SERVICE. ENJOY! 11JAN17: WHOEVER SAID "GETTIN' OLD AIN'T FOR SISSIES" WAS PRETTY ACCURATE! HAD TO PUT THE PHYSICAL THERAPY, FOR MY 4TH BACK SURGERY, ON HOLD. THEY'RE NOW TREATING ME FOR A LIVER CANCER THAT IS BROUGHT ON BY DIABETES (WHICH I WAS DIAGNOSED WITH IN 2000). LUCKILY, THE TREATMENT CENTER IS ONLY ABOUT AN HOUR AWAY, AND THE PROCEDURES THEY'RE USING ARE IMPRESSIVE. OUT OF THE 4 PLANNED PROCEDURES, I'VE ALREADY COMPLETED 3 OF THEM, WITH THE 4TH SCHEDULED IN ABOUT A MONTH. WITH ALL LUCK, I'LL GET THIS STUFF OUT OF THE WAY IN TIME FOR SUMMERTIME EXCURSIONS! 25 OCT 16: I guess 3rd time's not the charm! Had to have back surgery #4 in September to replace some broken screws! Back to physical therapy again! I really do feel like a "professional patient"! 21JUL16: They say "3rd time's the charm"; have had 3 back surgeries in the last 30 months! Recent one was in May; they fused L4-L5-S1. I go to physical therapy twice a week then do home exercises the other 5 days. With lumbar arthritis, & bad discs, they felt this was the best option. Hope this last effort lasts me a while! The surgery did prevent me from getting to some of my favorite events in the area, but did get to take pix of the Pony Express Re-Ride in June. Had back surgery OCT 2015 & still trying to get property back from the suspect that stole the airport late arriving luggage delivery car when I returned to Utah after the Tolman reunion. He's back in jail and is headed to prison. We were in court in NOV 2015 and he provided the location of the property ONLY to his public defender. The p/d was supposed to send his investigator to recover the property, but it's been almost 8 weeks, with no response/reply!
