Amanda's Story

Well, I guess anyone who ever knew me then would agree that it was obvious that I wanted direction, even though I didn't know it, and I didn't know where to begin looking for it. Fortunatly, it was in the stars for me to cross paths with a roving sprirt who wanted to take me cross-country and teach me about a band and a lifestyle, you may have heard of them...the grateful dead. It was so much more than the music...the freedom of the road(I attribute the courage to sell everything and go on the road for several years to the book- On the Road-by Jack Kerouac-good readin' friends), the opprotunity to see and meet so many different types of people, some of the most interesting people I've met were actually not even at the shows, but were some of the "townies" inbetween the venues. Pretty funny some of the questions a perfect stranger will ask you when they don't ever think they'll see you again!(what's with the dreadlocks?...do you actually LIVE in that van?...does your family know where your at?...) Anyway, after hundreds of shows(not just the dead, but widespread panic, bob dylan, string cheese incident, too many to list),I became pregnant with my daughter,Maya Soliel, who had some kinda bad medical issues, I hung up my tour hat, cut my dreads and without reluctance,beca...Expand for more
me a full-fledged mom, which by the way,is amazing. It is a privelegde to understand UNCONDITIONAL love. Thought I knew it before, but it took a certain little someone to show me the way. 5 years later, I'm married to a gorgorous man...tall dark and hansome with a heart of gold...loves my daughter as his own and we share a 2 year old little man..Izayah Emerson...aka...baby distructo...or pigpen. We are a very musical family, Kris plays drums,I,ve got my bongo and congas, still playing the piano, and actually have recently dared to pick up my old trumpet...Coltranes been running through my head lately...and the kids bang and make beautiful noise with us, I'm convinced that my neighbors enjoy the family of drummers across the road!!! We do a lot of outdoor stuff,we have a big fishing pond loaded with frogs and dragonflies, and we do the bonfire thing as often as possible and have lots of musicain friends who come over to make noise with us outside round the fire. My most sacred hobby is that of my rockhound nature...I have a very serious collection of crystals and gems, and for the last 12-13 years have been intensly studying them and all of their properties, pyhsical and spirital. Sounds kinda nutty, huh? Did you think I would ever NOT be weird? NO WAY! Its TOOOOO much fun!
