Well, this has been a while. I'll try and leave the older stuff below for context. Life is different again, like with all of us, I suppose. After Rohni passed in 2013, I went nuts for a few years, trying to figure out life again. Short form is that I've moved Mom in to take care of her (no nursing homes after what I saw during my stint as an EMT). Work is different, too. A few lay-offs later, I'm more experienced and more marketable, and looking at some good opportunities. I'll try to remember to update here for those who actually read this. :D Life And now for something completely different... It's been a while since I updated anything, so here goes. I left the EMS industry in 2005, after finally getting an offer back in tech. Now I am traveling 100%, playing Technical Support at Post Offices around the country. I started working for these guys in 2005, installing new computers and modifications to their sorting machines, and now support the new equipment after it's been installed, as well as beta-testing all the new software loads and equipment mods, plus taking tech support calls from our own techs. So, while it pays more than twice as much as dispatching ambulances, I'm on the road ALL the time. April 2008: no more on the road. See the bottom of the Workplace paragraph. Workplace 2006 Update: Went to work for Siemens, installing modifications to Postal sorting machines last year, and now support the machines and new computer systems we have installed. It's a nice, cushy job, but I'm also traveling the country 100%--I'm writing this from Providence, RI, and getting ready to fly to Shreveport.
