Pete's Story
Dear Woodson HS, Virginia, Long Beach, Michigan, Maine and USNA Friends
I went to 4th and 5th grades in Brunswick Maine, played a lot of hockey, then 6th grade at Wakefield elementary in Annandale VA, 7th grade at Sidney Lanier in Fairfax VA, 8th grade at Eaton Rapids (Michigan) JHS and Will Rodgers JHS in Long Beach Calif, and then back to Fairfax VA for all of HS at WT Woodson. Dad was a Navy Captain and we kept on the move. After HS graduation I went to Annapolis and pretty much lost touch with everybody from Woodson HS which I regret. Saw a few old friends on leave from time to time but there was a lot a change going on in '70-'72 and being in military I was on other end of the culture spectrum going on it seemed. Graduated in June of '73 and went into flight training at Pensacola Fla and then on to Corpus Christi Tx where I met and married the lovely Kelly Carter. We lived in San Jose Calif for 5 years while I flew in western Pacific and where 2 of 4 kids were born, and then in Orange County Calif for another 6 years, bearing 2 more children...before leaving Navy active duty and getting into technical sales...and moving back to San Jose for another 5 years. In 1990 we moved back to Corpus Christi where I served in sales and business management roles with Applied Materials, and Thermodynamic Design and Mfg, along with finishing 20 yrs flying in the Navy reserves. I was able to travel extensively in Asia and Europe on business, and have always taken the time to see the sights and smell the roses. I got a general contractors license a few years ago and enjoy renovationg old homes for our horde, and maybe a semi-retirement biz later. Kelly's family is very musically gifted and it has flowed into our crowd, as well as art and ballet dancing. I have served for years as a church elder, active in discipling men, women and younglings. We home schooled all our kids and started a college prep school 35 yrs ago here in Corpus, Annapolis Christian Academy, which is now the largest Classical Christian K-12 school in sou...Expand for more
th Texas. Our son Peter was headmaster for 12+ years (now doing same in Dothan Alabama doing same), and my Kelly taught the choir and music programs there. Oldest daughter, Katy and here husband live in Houston with our youngest daughter Abigail and their family where both serve in their schools and churches in Art and dance instruction. Youngest Son Steven is an accomplished musician, producer and is our Media Arts and Worship Director at City Church, Corpus Christi. We now have 20 grandchildren, 6 of whom are great grands. Kelly and I are wealthy we are told. There is a lot of ground to cover but suffice to say our lives have been richly blessed.
Many fond and clear memories of our school times with you all that might remember. Would love to hear from anyone who remembers me from the many and varied schools we shared across the country..
Below is a fun story of how our High School lives have continued to inter twine.
Some of you may remember that in High School…. Patti Farmer and I lived a few blocks from each other in Annandale Virginia and went to Wakefield Elem, Sidney Lanier JHS in Fairfax and then WTW. My brother, Mark and Patti's sister Pam, who are both 5 years older than us, were also good friends and graduates of WTW in 1964. Pam and Patti's folks and our parents became good friends as a result of our friendships and over the years visited each other and traveled regularly. Patti's Dad, Colonel Farmer, passed away a few years ago and then my Mom passed as well. Always a sad time to say goodbye to dear ones both......but in our case a very happy ending in that Patti's Mom, Eloyce and my Dad ....Jens (Swede) were married January 2004, and enjoyed 8 great years of marriage, which have re-bonded us with the Farmer girls as brothers and sisters. These dear parents have now passed leaving us all a great legacy of family and faithfulness.
I hope to hear from old friends and perhaps see some of you again. Have posted a plethora of pics on this site and the facebook page so you can track the adventure.
