Peter's Story
Life
Time just flies by .....well, Carpe Deim! Lets see, following graduation I attended UAB where I receive my first BS with a major/minor in biology/chemistry. Moved to Chicago to attend chiropractic school at National College of Chiropractic. Been in private practice in Hueytown, Alabama for 24 years. One beautiful daughter who is now 25. While serving my profession I have been elected to numerous leadership positions and committee's within the Alabama State Chiropractic Association. Anyway, my most recent accomplishment has been completing my private / instrument pilots license in 2004, then purchased a piper archer aircraft so I can spend my free time flying around the country. Nothing gives me the personal pleasure and accomplishment than flying that little bird.
During the past 40 years I have chased many rainbows, caught a few and have been extremely blessed. Lots of awsome memories of traveling around the US and Europe. I have a career that I love so much I would do it for free and retirement in my life time is just not on my agenda.
School
Biggest crush in H.S.? Can't even remember her name...but she was absolutely beautiful! The funniest moment that I can recall was when Loyd Culpepper, Ray Perry and I were fishing in a small bass tournement at Reids Ferry on the Warrior River where I cought the only bass, unfortunatelly it was only 11.5" long. So in order to win the "big money", I hit it with a hammer for 30 minutes to stretch it to the 12" limit mark. Hey Ray, 78 Bassmasters are still #1! Of course watching Cary Bailey streak naked down the hall's was pretty funny.
College
Lets see, while attending UAB working toward my B.S. Degree (majoring Biology / Chemistry), I was fortunate enough to become involved in the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity. We would study all week and party down during the weekends. Spent lot...Expand for more
s of nights going to UAB basket ball games, dancing, parties and going to clubs. Funniest moment (that I can discuss in public) was when we use to race beds down the middle of 20th street in Birmingham, Alabama. Winning the UAB Fraternity Presidents Award while President of our Fraternity is something I will always remember. Lots of fun times with Jeff Beasly, Trent Buckelew, Stan Reeves and Shane Roberts going to class during the day and getting into mischief at night. Some of the best years of my life was during those four years at UAB.
In 1981 I was accepted to National College of Chiropractic in Chicago. The cold weather almost killed me but I managed to graduate without major frost bite. Following my internship at the Patient Research Clinic in Lombard, Illinois, I received a second BS degree and in 1985 my Doctor of Chiropractic degree. Chicago was a very liberating experience in that its a true melting pot of different languages and civilizations. Very cold winters, dancing at Cinderalla's Disco, waking up early on Sunday morning's to photograph the city and museums, going to Cub's and Chicago Bear games, Taste of Chicago. St. Patrick's Day in Chicago(....lots of headaches) provide lots of wonderful memories.
Workplace
Upon graduation I opened my clinic in Hueytown, Alabama where I have been practicing for 32 years, with 21 years in a multidisciplinary clinic. During this period I have been fortunate enough to serve my profession and patients throughout the country from either lobbying congressional and state leaders to attending numerous functions that impact how health care is delivered in this country. The Alabama State Chiropractic Association has twice elected me "Young Chiropractor of the Year Award" and in 2000, "ASCA Chiropractor of the Year". Currently serving on the Alabama Board Of Chiropractic Examiners.
