Peter's Story
Peter is from Levittown, NY where his parents moved in 1948 (2 Rock Lane). He attended The "Quanset Hut" School on the site of what is now Wisdom Lane for first grade, then Gardiner's Avenue (grades 2-6), Wisdom Lane Jr. High, and LMHS (1956-60). He is married to Alice [Kaplan]Donaldson (Teaneck HS 1960) and has three children -- Emily Field, who recently got her PhD in English at BU and teaches English at Bridgewater State College; Ethan Donaldson, sound engineer and musician, and J. . He and Alice have two grandchildren (James and Ruby). His schools include LMHS ('60) and majored in English at Columbia (BA, PhD) and Cambridge University (BA, MA). He has taught at MIT since 1969 and is now Ford Foundation Professor of Humanities there. He works on Shakespeare, Shakespeare on film, and leads digital projects in global Shakespeare studies.
Peter's interests include photography, film, visits to art museums, cooking.
He attended the 40th reunion of his class -- and wishes there had been a 50th -- what fun.
