Peter Harvey:  

After Polycarp, I went to Servite and then UC Berkeley for a Bachelors in Computer Science. I finished up at UC Irvine with a Masters in Computer Science. I married Prudence Ashley at that point, and we moved to Oakland where I began work for the Space Sciences Laboratory at UC Berkeley. This is part of the Physics department. We have two children, Grace and Andrew. Grace is a graduate student at USD and Andrew is at UC Santa Barbara. Over the past 30 years, I've designed and built a number of space instruments and spacecraft for NASA. The biggest project I managed was called THEMIS, which was 5 spacecraft project to study the aurora. It was the largest constellation in NASA's history. After it finished its mission, we moved two spacecraft to the moon and brought the other three closer to earth. I developed instruments to study the radiation belts, the atmosphere on Mars, and to fly through solar flares. I'm currently controlling the Solar Probe, sending commands to the spacecraft to control it at Solar and Venus encounters. After my kids left for college, I volunteered to raise funds for the Leukemia Society by training for triathlons. One thing led to another and I got pretty good at them. I...Expand for more
