Peter's Story

Life After Thailand we moved to Southern California in 1972. Attended Central Union High and Park Avenue Continuation School. Joined the Air Force and spent 10 years as a Vehicle Operator in Nebraska and Guam and Special Operations Helicopter Flight Engineer in California and Florida, then left active duty to go back to school in 1988. I joined the Air Force Reserve and worked for McDonnell Douglas and Lockheed Martin while attending school at night. Got my Master's Degree and spent 3 years teaching at Southern Illinois University before coming to Florida in 2000 as a partner at Mediatech, Inc. I finished up my doctorate in Education from California Coast University. I've been married to a wonderful woman since 1980 and we have a 12 year old son named Chance. We've spent time living in Northern California, Nebraska, Guam, Colorado, Illinois and Florida. I'd love to hear from any of you that may remember one of the Riley boys. You can email me at peter at allriley dot com. School I was never much into studying until I got into my 30s. Once bitten by the education bug, I couldn't quit. Finished my doctorate in 2002 and am teaching part time in Daytona Beach at the community college. Someday I'll get back to full time university teaching, but am having too much fun with my business right now. College College/ Did it all in my 30s and 40s. Worked full time, took full undergraduate and graduate course loads, and pulled all my hair out...Expand for more
! Workplace After the Air Force I went to work for McDonnell Douglas in Denver and then to Lockheed Martin in Albuquerque. Both jobs involved working in the simulation field, developing training materials and interactive courseware for Air Force crew members. Did a 3-year stint as a college professor at SIU from 97-00 and then came to Florida to work with some old friends in an electronic classroom business. Having a ball doing that and have a piece of the company as well. Best of both worlds! Military I joined the Air Force after leaving El Centro, CA and a divorce that left me heartbroken at 20 years old. After basic training I got assigned to Offutt AFB where I met my wife Denise. We traveled together with the Air Force to Guam, then to California where we both cross-trained (me into helicopters and Denise into the chapel management career field). We then went to Hurlburt Field, FL until 1988 and left active duty because I really wanted to go back to school. We both joined the reserve and went to the 302 Airlift Wing at Peterson AFB, Colorado where I again cross-trained into the C-130 Flight Engineer career field. After a stint in Desert Storm and flying missions in Sarajevo, I left the flying game for the Command Post and an IMA reserve assignment to Scott AFB. Denise and I both retired from the reserve in 1999, she a MSgt and me a SMSgt. No regrets, lots of great friends, and plenty of stories to tell. I loved every minute of it!
