Peter's Story

School Since attending P.D.H.S., I went to Glendon College, Dalhousie University, and U of T (Faculty of Law). I travelled extensively in the Middle East (Syria, Lebanon, and Jordan) and married my wife in Beirut, Lebanon. We have two children, Alexander and Sean. I have practised law for the past 32 years, in both official languages. My wife and I travel extensively, and plan several trips each year. College At Glendon College, I did a bilingual degree in political science and history. I then toured the Levant (Lebanon, Syria, Jordan) and, in the process, got married. When I returned to Canada, I did a graduate degree in international relations, foreign policy analysis, and strategic studies. In 1973, I started law school, graduating in 1976. It was a lot of work, and a great deal of fun. I am thinking of returning to university to obtain a PhD in political science, so that I can teach at that level. Workplace I practice law in both official languages in Ontario (since 1978) and P.E.I.( since 2000). I am presently arranging to write the bar exams in Britain ( I have dual citizenship). Presently, I am a litigator, but expect to get into international trade and development issues. Travel Araxie, my wife, and I travel extensively. In 2003, we visited Brazil, the U.K. and the U.S. In 2004, we toured Armenia, Nagoro-Kharabkh, and parts of the Czech Republic. Unfortunately, in 2004 I suffered a major health crisis, resulting in open heart surgery; however, I have made a full recovery, and am back doing all of the things that I like. In 2005, we took the Transcontinental train across Canada. This is a trip that I would heartily recommend to all of you. I have posted a few photos of this trip. In 2007 we vacationed in the Ukraine and Romania. I have posted a few photos from that trip. In 2008, we travelled to the Falkland Islands and Antarctica, and I have ...Expand for more
posted a few more photographs of both the Antarctic peninsula and the Falkland Islands. Later this year, we are going to England for a visit. For all of the travelling we have done, I have only visited the U.K. a couple of times since I emigrated in 1956. It is time to go back. We are beginning to contemplate retirement, and are considering a plan to purchase a home somewhere in the sunny South for use in the winter. Costa Rica, Panama, or one of the Islands come to mind (not the U.S.!). If we do this, then we may move to P.E.I. or New Brunswick for the summer months. I have decided to tackle a couple of more languages, because we intend to travel through Argentina and Chile in the near future. Spanish lessons are in the offing. I would also like to go to the 2014 Olympics in Sochi; so I am going to try Russian. (need enough at least to ask for directions and find a beer!). If anyone wishes to get in touch, please do so through this website. We went to the South of England for Easter this year. I also visited Fulham, where I was born, and where I lived until I was seven. I was surprised and amazed that I could easily find my way around, without directions, even to the home where we once lived. I have not been there in over 50 years. We also visited Dorset and Hampshire, and had quite an enjoyable time. I will post a few photos if I get a minute. Unfortunately, I have had to undergo surgery for glaucoma, and have only just begun to recover the sight in my right eye. The operation was a success, so I will not join the Conservative Party, as I am not blind, directionless, and easily led. We are off on another trip in a couple of months, and are looking forward to spending our 40th anniversary in Armenia, with a side trip to Jordan to visit friends. I might get around to retiring from the law practice, if I can find something else to do -- who knows?
