Peter St. Don:

CLASS OF 1970
Peterborough, ON

Peter's Story

t's been a long time since I graduated but I have so many fond memories. After graduating in 1970 with the Contenders class I spent one year as a youth minister in Toronto. In 1970. Then in 1971 became the pastor of Bethel Pentecostal Church in Goderich, Ontario. I spent 4 productive years there and positioned the church for the purchase of the property and new location upon which the new church building now stands. In 1975 I became the pastor of Royal View Church in London, Ontario. The church increased significantly and we built a new church there. In 1980 I moved to Huntington Beach, California. I then moved to California and pastored Community Bible Church in Fountain Valley and built a new church there. Then In 1984 I pioneered Harbour Community Church in Huntington Beach, California. In 2010 I accepted became the associate minister at First Congregational Church in Redlands, California.. Along the way I continued my education by earning a Masters of Divinity Degree in pastoral theology and counselling at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, California and then a Doctorate from McCormick Theological Seminary in Chicago. Now, let's go back to E.P.B.C. (my preferred name) for the college. When I first entered the doors at Peterborough I read a large banner saying, "WELCOME FRESHMAN." a wonderful impact the college would have on me and the rest of my career. I really sharpened up my game of ping-pong during the long winter nights and enjoyed playing rook, which at times, became very competitive. Although we were not supposed to mess with water fights in the dormitory - I still recall Burt with a large bleach bottle, (which he called BIG BERTHA) with a pin-hole in the cap and loaded up for action. On another occasion, on a winter's night, while playing rook with a few friends, Kent appeared to our dorm room where a heated game of rook was taking place, at the end of his long night's shift shift with a large pizza and a funny story behind it. It appears he had the correct street number but the wrong street. He he pounded on a door and and when nobody answered, he opened it, only to find two startled people not expecting a pizza delivery. Upon his hasty retreat on that snowy, dark, night - Kent slowed down enough to shine his policeman's flashlight, one more time, on the blurry street sign partially covered with snow only to recognize the error of way.. We had a great laugh and it seemed that the pizza was the best one we ever tasted. I find myself smiling warmly as I reflect on my days at E.P.B.C. and look forward to hearing from some of my classmates. Sincerely.... Peter G. St.Don
