Phil's Story

I went to the 8h grade at St. Michael's up on the hill, then my mother and sister and I moved to Florida following the death of my father in 1955. I have memories of many friends who would have graduated in 1960. My sister, Maureen, died four years ago in Oklahoma where her family had a cattle ranch. I currently have a residence in Soyapango, El Salvador, where I have lived for ten years after selling my interest in a manufacturing company in the US and formally retiring. I travel in my trusty 4-wheel drive Nissan pickup through Central America and the Yucatan of Mexico. A couple of times each year I visit the larger Caribbean islands. I advise industries on the use of precision cylinders which are part of their manufacturing processes and arrange for repair...Expand for more
s of existing parts or manufacture of new ones. I have an adopted daughter, 25, a student at Universidad Rafael Landivar in Guatemala, who lives with her mother in Xela in the western highlands of Guatemala, also a son, 42, who lives in Florida. Love to hear from anyone from my era in Montpelier. After all these years of touching down and living all over the world, it's still home in a very real sense. While 18 million people live in Florida, most in my age bracket likewise consider someplace else as home. A few years ago I met a woman in a pension in Guatemala who had graduated from St. Michael's. She had just come from Burlington where she visited with Sister Jerome who taught kindergarten at St. Michael's for a long time. Made me feel even more nostalgic.
