Phil's Story

Life I graduated from Georgia Tech in 1982 and from Univ. of Michigan in 1984. I am currently a software engineer at Mentor Graphics near Portland, Oregon (still a geek). I have been happily married since April 1, 1988 (ask me about using whoopie cushions as wedding decorations). I have two kids born in 1990(M) and 1992(F). I graduated in 1977 from Dunwoody High School in Dunwoody Ga. (near Atlanta) (for those looking through links to other schools I attended) In high school, I was in the band (trombone) and the teachers I really remember most were: Mr. Bob Greenhaw (Band) - Mr. Greenhaw understood that good teaching is setting high expectations and throwing the baton when they aren't met. Miss Carole Macintyr...Expand for more
e (English) - Miss Macintyre understood that good teaching is about setting high expectations and giving everyone a 30 on an essay to let them know about it. I have actually written articles in magazines thanks to Carole Macintyre. (OK, Geek magazines, but still...) Mr. Tom Matisits and Mr. Steve Davis(History) - Mr. Matisits and Mr. Davis understood that good teaching is really about setting high expectations and then putting on a really good show. Mrs. Broadway (Chemistry) - Mrs. Broadway understood that good teaching is about setting high expectations and making a personal connection with students. She is still at Dunwoody from what I see? mail will reach me if you send something to phil_brooks at mentor dot com.
