Phil Floyd:  

THROUGH THE YEARS After graduating high school, I went to Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene where my future wife, Sue Ann Burgess, was already attending. I caught up with her by taking large course loads and summer classes so we graduated together in ¿68. After graduation, we loaded the car and moved to Louisville, KY where I attended Southern Seminary though not for long since I was kicked out for demonstrating against the war. I was heavily involved in the anti-war movement (burned my draft card and mailed it with a letter to my draft board) and several social justice organizations. It was really a fun and exciting time to be young and optimistic about things. Our first child, Christian Hollace, was born there. We eventually moved again ending up in Ft.Worth where I took a job with the J. P. Bowlin Co. Our second child, Philip Daniel, was born in 1970. I stayed with the Bowlin Co. for ten years and then started my own company. We moved to Missouri where we lived on a rural 12 acres in a basement home. It was a great place to raise kids. We home schooled during the morning hours and turned them loose in the afternoon to get in whatever mischief they could invent. We raised chickens, ducks, rabbits, and goats. We really had a wonderful time there. In 1984 we moved to Newcastle, OK to take over the management of O¿Rear Scale & Equipment Company in Oklahoma City. I stayed with them for 19 years until the owner died and I started a new company. We sold scales, communication software, meat market equipment, and developed food items for delis. Sue Ann worked with me in the latter.
