Phil's Story
Life
I went to McCluer for only my senior year, but it was a wonderful time for me. I met many fascinating people, of whom I have fond memories.
After graduating from McCluer, I majored in math at William Jewell College, then (reluctantly) went into the Army for three years, then later got a Master's in math at the University of Maryland. I was an actuary for 24 years, then retired to tutor high school students in math (a job I love).
My best friends at McCluer were Craig McCormick and Bill Webster (sadly, he died in 2000). I also have good memories of Pat Griffin (I assume she's now an English professor somewhere), Deanna DuRall (I enjoyed our conversations in English class), Dave Hershey (he ha...Expand for more
d a true artistic temperment, which I appreciated) and Jim Stoien (with whom I worked at the local "Chuckaburger" one summer). And although I didn't know them as well as the people above, I also have good memories of LeRoy Piazza (I hope he's gotten over Ayn Rand), Fred Ewens (who was gullible enough to think that I was gullible), Jim Frederiksen (he played "Etude In E" for me once) and Kathy Gruer (who wrote something very meaningful to me in my yearbook).
As for teachers... Mr. Moore and Miss Muckerman (I was sort of infatuated with her) are still very much in my mind.
I'd like to know what happened to all these people, as well as many I haven't mentioned. If you're out there, please contact me.
