Phil's Story

After high school I immediately hit the road in search of where I belong. It was obvious that the city wasn't it. I traveled the continent many times over. Finally landed in Northern California Redwood Country. I got married, had a daughter and settled there for about 16 years until August of 2000 as the Systems Administrator for the Health Care District. However, the District filed for Bankruptcy and I was suddenly unemployed. Though I had been working with a team on 4 potentially huge internet enterprises, I had to find reliable income - which I did using Monster Jobs - and found myself moving back to Southern California, to Buena Park again to work as Technology Coordinator for a High School in Anaheim, CA. Full Circle? While I was there, I decided to pop by BPHS to see who was about. I got to see one old teacher. That was it. To me, it was like a whole new school. 30 years is a long time, I guess. I lived and worked there for about 9 months and found myself unable to tolerate the city any longer. So I moved to West Virginia (where my wifes family lives) to a rural area which was ...Expand for more
expanding its technology and would be short on people to work in this field. Things didn't go as planned there either. Everyone and their brother was graduating special schools with degrees and certificates in the IT industry and I was unable to get work in the field. So, with unemployment running out, I did the only sensible thing I could come up with. I went to Truck Driving school. It has worked out fine, too. No matter where I go I can get a great paying job. I believe I will move back to Redwood Country - it was the only place I was really happy. (-update 12/2007-) Okay well, not exactly. I moved to Northern Oregon instead, switched to driving regional (home weekends) and became engaged to a wonderful lady. She is 28 and has a great 6 year old daughter. We are all very close now. Though I look older, I dress the same as I always have, I act the same and play the same. And yeah, I still feel about 23... until I take a fall on my roller blades. When I look at other 50 years olds, I find it hard to believe I am that old. Weird... When something major changes I will update this again.
