Phillip L.'s Story

Life doesn't always turn out the way you expect. I joined the U.S. Army in February 1966 went to Alaska and Vietnam, I was engaged to Paula Hale and then disengaged. I worked for Paul Vice as a hod carrier for about a year and as a bartender at Mr. B's Lounge on Hwy 32 for about 3 1/2 years while I was sometimes attending classes at Ball State, I became rather board with the wild and crazy life I was living and needed a place to regain my sanity so I re-enlisted in the Army and found my calling in life. After 23 years I retired from U.S. Army, and I now believe that, except for bringing The United States of America into the community of nations, ending Slavery in the Americas, ending Fascism, Nazism & Communism in Europe, and ending the Japanese conquest of the Asian-Pacific basin, war and the threats of war have not solved mush in the last 250 years LOL. Please don't get me wrong here, I am not pro-war and I am not anti-war, I am pro-active and pro-action. I'm well read, so I have to think that anyone who takes Noam Chomsky seriously must be one of those people who always hate America First, without thinking that there might be a real reason for our America first policies. I have a love of classical music both Asian and Western, I have a degree in environmental science and I work as an Environmental Compliance Officer for DS/2 a division of Lockheed. We work for US Government, as Aviation Maintenance, Wheeled Vehicle Maintenance and Ammunition Control subcontractors, wherever and whenever we are needed. At the moment I am working on Fort Hood, TX.I love the Far East, Korea, Philippines, Thailand, Vietnam and parts of China. I have worked in the aviation field for over 30 years. I enjoy good conversations with intelligent people. I am a dichotomy of rational and irrational philosophies that at times drives me and I must admit some of my friends up a wall (I'm sorry for my friends) . It took me three decades before it dawned on me that my political opponents were every bit as Patriotic as I was. Sometimes a person gets so wrapped up in the issues that they lose sight of the bigger issue. That issue is, as Americans we are all in this together and together we shall stand or fall. It is up to each of us to decide what it will be. I was brought up in a military family. So we did not talk about Black Americans or Mexican Americans. To my dad they were just Americans. Rather then a Red State and Blue State dichotomy I was taught to see a Red White and Blue America. It¿s true though there really are people in the world, even some Americans I'm sad to say, that hate America because of our freedoms. In most countries in the world even in Europe to criticize your government might bring you a visit from the police. We really are a blessed nation that we can stand in the public forum and complain about our government. Try that in; Russia, Iran, Burma, Syria, the list really is too long to enumerate. The question came up as to what I like, so here it is in a nut shell: Reading, Classical Music, Country Music, History, Texas, Cooking, Politics, Things Old, watches, guns, money, etc, and I like people especially intelligent people . I do not like users and bigots, or those who condone their actions. I believe in personal freedom and personal accountability, in other words all of us are accountable for our individual actions. Some may ask why are so many people in prison, I say it is simple and five easy words explain why, It's because they did it. But on the other hand liberals believe that crime is inextricably linked with poverty. In reality, most poor people never resort to crime, and some wealthy people commit evil acts to enrich themselves further. Harlem, East Los Angeles, the South side of Chicago are not the poorest communities in the United States. According to a new U.S. Bureau of the Census report, some of the poorest communities are Shannon County, South Dakota, Hidalgo County, TX, Caddo Parish, LA, Youngstow...Expand for more
n, OH and Muncie IN. Have you ever heard of these residents rioting to protest their living conditions? Liberals state that many teenagers would rather sell crack for $100 an hour than to flip hamburgers for a minimum wage. Using the same liberal logic, you might think it would make more sense for the average middle-class worker to rob banks rather than work a forty-hour week? The reason why most people, rich and poor, do not commit crimes because they know it is wrong to do so. Americans have always understood that that this nation is unique among nations in the long march of human history, and as we speed along in this new century, we seem to be at a crossroads. We are worried that with so many things out of whack; the traditions and institutions that made America great are under attack, standards continue to be lowered, and many minds seem clouded by the fog of liberalism. So let's stay positive; the personal freedoms we still enjoy; the widespread prosperity and bounty unimaginable in any other time and place; the innovations and progress in medicine, technology, communication, science, business, and more; the standard of living never before attained by so many among a nation's citizens...we wonder, will it last? The questions remain. What will ensure that America continues? Can our culture be reclaimed? How can we stay free and prosperous in this new century? While people of other countries have been restricted from the pursuit of prosperity, we are bounded only by the limits of our imagination. The liberal will whine that only a few are prosperous or that the evil rich who have somehow gotten rich off the backs of the poor. Liberals don't notice, or understand personal freedom and personal accountability. They see victims; the oppressed, the downtrodden, and the have-not's. Only a conservative would ask how we can stay prosperous and free in the 21st century America has had the original ideas of self-government and self-reliance; for which we must thank our Founding Fathers. I tell you now that your talents, your muscle, your hearts, and your dreams will help America stay prosperous and free in the 21st century, but only if we have personal freedom and are personally accountability for our actions! I'm sure that many of you have seen this, but just in case there are some of you that have not here it is with a comment. The Nine Principles; 1. America is good. 2. I believe in God and He is the Center of my Life. 3. I must always try to be a more honest person than I was yesterday. 4. The family is sacred. My spouse and I are the ultimate authority, not the government. 5. If you break the law you pay the penalty. Justice is blind and no one is above it. 6. I have a right to life, liberty and pursuit of happiness, but there is no guarantee of equal results. 7. I work hard for what I have and I will share it with who I want to. Government cannot force me to be charitable. 8. It is not un-American for me to disagree with authority or to share my personal opinion. 9. The government works for me. I do not answer to them, they answer to me. 12 Values , Honesty , Reverence , Hope , Thrift , Humility , Charity , Sincerity , Moderation , Hard Work , Courage , Personal Responsibility , Friendship Do you watch the direction that America is being taken in and feel powerless to stop it? Do you believe that your voice isn't loud enough to be heard above the noise anymore? Do you read the headlines everyday and feel an empty pit in your stomach, as if your completely alone? If so, then you've fallen for the Wizard of Oz lie that the good old boys in Washington are trying to sell us. While the voices you hear in the distance may sound intimidating, as if they surround us from all sides, the reality is very different. Once you pull the curtain away you realize that there are only a few people pressing the buttons, and their voices are weak. The truth is that they don't surround us at all. WE SURROUND THEM

Can we talk and can you be honest? No, I'm serious, I would like to know the answer here. I'm a conservative and have been one for years. Yeah I know that's hard to believe, right? Well then, what is a conservative? Is it s
The rift between red and blue America has opened to a chasm of mutual contempt and incomprehension. Politics has become overtly radicalized, venomous, toxic, and rude behavior. Demagoguery and hate have become the norm. A q
