Phyllis's Story

Wow I read my story and it was really old! I live in Dallas, TX where I followed my youngest daughter and her 3 children when her then husband got transferred. The cost of living is lower here and, at the time, my husband and I were on disability and had to sell our house. We bought our current single level home here for $170,000.00 cash!! It wouldn't go for under 400,000.00 in Calif. We live in a retirement community where there are very active seniors and lots of things to do! Having fun with my grandchildren here (ages 11,9,8) but miss my 6 grandchildren and 3 children in Calif. Just visited Calif for my youngest son's wedding on 7/25/2009. They had to drag me back to TX. or an insurance company. It's so nice to drag myself out of bed in the morning and just meander down to the office (front bedroom) to work. They supplied me with a phone line, computer, monitor, printer, shredder, table and chair and all the supplies I need! With my disability (knee replacement gone bad) I couldn't do any other type of nursing. I do telephonic triage that is called Nurseline and people call about symptoms, medication and medical questions. I really enjoy it. Unfortunately, I am not able to retire yet. I was planning to go to the Sept reunion but am now unable d/t the cost of the wedding trip and another trip to Calif to celebrate my oldest daughter's 40th birthday. It seems like just yesterday that I turned 40! Where has all the time gone? Well I love it when people write to me so send me a little note letting me know what you're currently doing!!
