Phyllis's Story

Life I have lived in Barrington Hills, IL for 31 years, am still married to the same man for 40 years, have a married son (41) in IL, a daughter (39) in Newport Beach, CA and a son (37)in Aspen/Denver, CO. We have three year old Granddaughter twins whom we see every Thursday. What a joy these innocents are! Life has been very interesting: MY career was raising three amazing children, then I retired after that job years ago. My life long spare time has been spent volunteering, being President/Chairman/Founder of Civic Orgs/Charities/Youth Programs/Church Events/High School Clubs. My greatest PT job was founder & co-cordinator of our Park District Youth Ski Program and Adventure Camps. What a blast...being paid to help kids have THE BEST TIME, safely and happily! My greatest Volunteer project was co-founding our High School Adopt A Grandparent Club which I sponsored for 7 years. It had over 100 s...Expand for more
tudents who adopted approx 70 grandparents in any year and was the most desired Club at the School. When I retired from that, I was replaced by a paid teacher sponsor and 2 volunteers. I have traveled to 49 states & 27 countries, some multiple times; memorable was dragging Cookie Hayduk Cunningham to Bora Bora where she had yearned to go all her life. She died ten years later,almost to the date of our departure. I sure miss her! My mother is still alive (91), on her retirement farm (the area where she was born and raised) in Western PA. Both my brothers and their wives live on her farm as well. HA! I have a vacation home in a nearby tiny town similiar to Maybury Junction and we have a townhouse in Basalt, CO just minutes from SnowMass/Aspen. Lots of adventures and fun. My life has been more interesting than I dreamed of as a kid. I am glad that I lived well beyond the 30 years I had predicted!

Friend is at River Valley Ranch in Colorado right now and ousted her view. This is just down valkey from our townhouse in Basalt~
Storm door goes perfectly with new interior doorway. Now that area is buttoned up for future severe weather. 😁 With El Niño in place, there’s no way to know if it’ll be a warm, wet/dry winter or a freezing cold, icy/snowy
