4 boys!! 3 in 33 months. we're catholic. it's expected. i want one more, and she wants to murder for thinking this, let alone speaking it out loud . . .
What are you doing for work?
i currently work with exxsell realty selling residential real estate in the triangle area (raleigh/chapel hill/durham).
What have you been doing since LHS?
for some strange reason, someone in admissions at umass decided to send me an acceptance letter into their Âpre-med program shortly before graduation. i stayed there for 2.5 years, never getting past chem. 100, the idea of avogadroÂs theorem, 6.02x10 to the 23rd, the evil mol. so i changed my major. then i changed it again. and again. and again. and again. you get the idea. aside from studying every academic discipline that umass had to offer, i indulged in extra large helpings of the many and various activities offered outside of the classroom. i tried to stay on track, never once allowing schoolwork to get in the way of my education. to this day i canÂt understand why this vast and mighty university had taken offense at my 1.8 cumulative average at the end of five semesters. i thought i was doing quite well, all things considered, and thoroughly enjoyed being there. i felt that with a little more time and encouragement, i could break 2.0, no sweat. but they ruthlessly denied any chance of this, eventually asking me to leave. at times I miss the dining hall with its endless possibilities. during one of my umass summer breaks i found myself in roanoke, va, and later winston-salem, nc, selling books door-to-door wit...Expand for more
h southwestern publishing company. this was my introduction to the south. in the summer of Â85, i moved to greensboro, leaving behind all aspirations of a promising podiatric practice. i studied english and dance ed & performance at unc-greensboro. my undergraduate ended up being the best eight years of my life. in Â91 i moved to eastern north carolina to teach dance (ballet, modern, jazz) and some english classes at a middle and high school in a very economically disadvantaged area. best part of being there was coaching tennis and volleyball. moved to raleigh in Â94 to do graduate work in english/creative writing at nc state while teaching freshman comp. & american lit. found time in there to play bass & guitar in a few local bands. after graduating i left teaching and entered local residential real estate and have been here since. Â . . . and over hereÂs the kitchen . . . ÂÂyou get the idea. still play lots of tennis and soccer. recently began singing in the spanish choir at church (with the colombian). still writing unpublishable horror fiction in my free time.
Some of your fondest high school memories:
playing soccer. . . playing music in band, senior class play, choir . . . having the opportunity to play on a tennis team with, again, a wealth of ssuper talented players . . . before soccer practice, running Âthe hills on the far side of the soccer/field hockey/lacrosse fields, getting lost on the paths and ending up in peopleÂs yards, flustered and out of breath . . .
If you had it to do over, what would you do differently?
ah, so many regrets . . . where to begin? i would have put more time into sports and worked harder in gym clas
