Preston's Story
After high school I went on to Fullerton Junior College and worked full time for Texico Oil Co. as a Roustabout on Signal Hill in Long Beach, Ca. I decided to withdraw from college for a semester. This lost my student defferment and within three weeks I found myself in the United States' Army, and a whole new way of life! Just before the end of boot camp I married then my girlfriend, Suzanne.
In July 1971 our little girl Kamerin was born. After two years of Army service my duty was over and I returned home to my family and took up residence in Garden Grove. I returned to college and majored in Public Works and was lucky to be employeed by the City of Garden Grove. After seven years our marriage ended and I found myself bringing up Kamerin by myself.
I moved from Garden Grove to Riverside Ca. in 1978 and worked in the construction industry as a foreman for All American Asphalt. In May of 1982 I married my wife now of 35 years, Marilyn. ork for the City of Garden Grove, this was because the economy was going south. About a year later I was offered a job as Supervisor in the City of Corona Ca. I took the position and a short period later I was offered a Supervisor position with the City Of Riverside Ca. where I worked for 16 years plus before I retired at the age of 52. Marilyn and I now live in Prescott, AZ although we still return to our cabin in Big Bear Lake, Ca. every 6 to 8 weeks. It gives us a chance to see all our kids and grand children as well as old friends. I still see David Barney, who was my best friend in High School, and up until his passing, Allan Moll.
Retirement has been great for us both.
I spend most my time either gold Prospecting or riding my Harley Davidson. I got the gold fever years ago and have been dredging rivers in Ca. and Az. and am leaving on a dredging trip to Alaska the end of June 2009.
I still wonder what ever happened to Bob olsen and Steve Miller, they were some cool cats back then and great friends. If you now let me know!
