Priscilla (Annie)'s Story
Life
I left the "corporate world" in Nov 2009 in order to follow something that is closer to my heart. I am currently the bookkeeper and cashier in a locally owned organic grocery. Fanstastic company with 8 stores and growing. The company's philosophy is environmental protection and restoration along with supporting the local farmers. Check it out... momsorganicmarket.com. I could no longer, with good conscience, provide support for companies like Monstano, Cargill and large oil companies. I had been r working at RWD Technologies, LLC doing software support for proprietary software that is used for creating training materials. I worked in this field for over 10 years. Loved my job with the National Wildfire Control Group doing software support. Still spending time restoring a 1933 bungalow style home in Laurel, Maryland(between DC and Baltimore).
My sons are doing well, the older one, Nick, spent 4 years with the USMC. He did two tours in Iraq and when stateside he was stationed at Camp Lejuene NC. A, CD area, after spending 5 years on Cape Cod where he and Nick shared a home. He is bargtending at a great place that carries over 400 bottled beers and at least 20 on tap that are constantly changing. He is preparing to go back to school for something in the Environmental Science field.
After High School I spent 7 years as a Medical Lab Technician, 4 years in the US Army, 11 years as a stay at home mom(toughest job I ever had), and worked 7 years in Fairfax County Public Schools prior to my current job. I still enjoy swimming and water sports and love to take advantage of the availability of live music and cultural activities in the DC Metro and Baltimore area.
Military
I spent four years in the US Army from 1978 to 1982. I was trained as "computer repair" technician. I did basic training at Ft Jackson, SC and then AIT at Ft. Gordon, GA. I was stationed with the 472nd Signal Company in Stuttgart Germany for the majority of my time. My final assignment was a short stint at Ft Huachuca, AZ. My time on active duty was followed by 17 years of marraige to a soldier, and recently married a retired soldier. Obviously the military has been a huge part of my life.
