r's Story
Life
I moved to Arizona in 1983. After a few years of real estate sales I returned to teaching. I am with the Phoenix Union High School District, and currently am teaching English in the Evening School Program. I have been married since May of 1999 to Mary. I have a wonderful stepdaughter, Jessica, 11. We have made our home in Chandler, AZ. We have three dogs, one bird, and a small tank of fish with names that I cannot begin to pronounce. Many of you may remember my father, formerly the Sheriff of DuPage County. He retired in 1997, the longest sitting sheriff in Illinois history ( must have a hard ass to sit that long ), and now is serving on the board of pardons for Illinois. My mother lives in New Hampshire. My sister has published two novels, The Sparrow, and Children of God, both made the best seller list. I have been involved in the highland games since 1988. he semi-old guys' division known as the masters. I did get to compete in Springfield,Illinois, this year, as an individual and as part of a three person team. Our team took first place. Through the games I have competed in four provinces of Canada, three games in Scotland, and thirteen states. Looking forward to the 30th reunion.
Since the above, today 7/2/2010, I married Mary, in 1999. Moved to Chandler in same year. Retired from highland games competition after winning world championship twice. Retired from school teaching in 2007, and enjoying every minute of retirement. Became an archer and shoot barebow (no sights) and now shoot a long bow. Won the Senior Olympic nationals, and state championship several times. Won the national FITA field championship in 2009, took second this year. Working on a novel about my days as a carnival worker for my uncles. Have a 21 year old step daughter. Just moved her into her new apartment. Thank you,God, for single story units.
