Rachel's Story
Life
Well...I just moved back to the 'burg to save money, pay off debt, and raise support for doing missions overseas for 2-3 years. I'm so excited! I lived in Arkansas for the past two years, producing radio programs there for a ministry. I had a great time and met some wonderful (and normal) people.
School
What did I think of high school? Well, as far as actually school...I didn't love it. I wish I had tried harder but I had the best group of friends that I'm still friends with to this day. We had fun together w/o the parties and drunkeness :) I was on ministry teams with my church...martial arts and chorale. It was so fun and I miss it. The thing I would miss about high school days is the lack of responsibility...well in regards to how it is now :) Things were simpler then...I miss that. And now, I can't believe I've been out of high school for 5 and a half years! Wow. Time flies!
College
College was one of the best times of my life! I miss it a lot! I went to North Greenville College in South Carolina for two years...transferred from Central Virginia Community College. It was an amazing school and I didn't have one experience I hated. I was on a singing traveling team, Joyful Sound....Expand for more
I also was the production director for the college radio station. I made too many memories to type...I developed great friendships and had fun hanging out and being crazy. I would highly recommend the school...in fact, my younger brother transferred in this year. I graduated with a degree in Mass Communications/Broadcasting and now produce radio programs for a ministry in Arkansas. My dream is to one day start a christian radio station that plays music for young people. Believe it or not, there are some AWESOME Christian artists out there!
Workplace
Well, after high school I worked at Sagebrush Steakhouse and J.Crew for awhile. Then, once I graduated from college, I went back to J.Crew while looking for a job in my field. In November of '03...I moved to Arkansas, yup, Arkansas...to produce radio programs for Ron Hutchcraft Ministries. It's was a great learning experience and exciting to live in a completely different state...hours from home. I also volunteered with a youth ministry in the area called K-Life. Check it out at klife.com. Now I am working for World Help, a missions organization in Forest, VA. I'm loving where I am in life right now and I'm excited to see where God takes me next!
