Ralph's Story
Life
My Spouse
I was working for a construction outfit named Stearns Rodgers(Denver) in Baraboo, Wisconsin. The year was 1978. We were adding on to an existing Army Ammunition Plant, for the Army Corps of Engineers. Iwas renting a trailer from a local farmer in the area, to live in. Now if you are familiar with farmer wives in this part of the country, you must know that they can't stand to see a young buck running amok in their domain. This woman kept trying to set me up with her single friends. I kept turning her down.(I was renting the trailer for $130.00/mo. inc. utilities, and didn't want to blow a good thing). She was relentless and I finally agreed to meet her friend, Susan at a bowling alley, on Saturday Night. Susan was pretty much through with men at this time, but this farmers wife had been hounding her also. We had seperately agreed to meet each other to get this lady of our backs. I don't know if it was cabin fever from the long Wisconsin winter i had just gone through or if god had just put our trails together. hildren later, I am still "Thunderstruck" when I look at her. Those Wisconsin farm wives know what they are doing.
My Kids
My oldest boy Shannon is currently living in Wisconsin. My daughter Jeanette is serving in the U.S.Navy as a medical corpman. She is pursuing her bacheloriate degree. My youngest son Mark, will graduate from highschool this year. He is in a special group sponsered by CISCO SYSTEMS, and will graduate with computer tech credentials this spring.
My Job
I am a supervisor of various tradespeople in the heavy commercial construction field. With my degree in bus/eng. and Journeyman Carpenter credentials, I offer contractors a more rounded experience. I never was content sitting in an office, the walls used to close in on me. I now do my plan checking and paper work under tower cranes and concrete pumps. If you like to travel this is the job for you. I have worked from the oil fields of Suadia Arabia, to the ski slopes of Colorado. From the neon signs of Las Vegas, to the back country of Yellowstone and Glacier National Parks. My slogan is "Have hammer will travel".
